Why shouldn't I do this?

I think the tool carts are about to go on sale and id like to clean up my welding area. Currently im keeping my plasma cutter ontop of thr welder but its a complete annoying mess of cables and its fallen once. Id like to convert one of these tool carts into a mobilish plasma cutting rig and welding/plasma storage. The plasma cutter will sit at the bottom (ik its a bit annoying to adjust but ill live. The converte the top space into a small table i can plasma cut with. I was first thinking of using a water bed but that sounds super annoying to move so id like to keep it dry but im not sure if sparks will be an issue.

Can i adapt a universal steering column to shift a 6l80?

Ls swapping my b2200, I have a lc9 and a 6l80 in it right now (mounts not fully done) but im starting to plan the steering. I prefer coloumm shifting so I was thinking about going with a universal steering column that had a column shifter but they are all for 4l60s. Not sure what my easy options are. Ive considered getting a column from the truck the engine came from but im not setup for that kind of fab yet.
