I’m a complete beginner and I got dumb questions
i like k3nt4!'s but there are literally no tutorials on how to make beats like hers. (especially the song “haunt” - k3nt4!)
i honestly don’t even know what genre she even is. i thought it was dark pop, but apparently not
also, i know absolutely nothing about music theory. i thought i could just rawdog it and figure everything out as i went, but i’m realizing i can’t.
I’d really appreciate brutally honest feedback
i never got feedback in real life id rather know the truth that than believing a lie
I want to apply to acting school, but I’m honestly really scared because I feel insecure about my appearance, especially my teeth.
I’ve been passionate about acting for a long time, and I genuinely love the stage. I feel like if I actually got accepted and started acting, I wouldn’t even think that much about my appearance because I’d be focused on having fun on the stage.
The thing that scares me is the in-person audition. I worry that I won’t be accepted because I don’t fit the “right” appearance, and my insecurity is stopping me from even trying.
Has anyone else felt this way before? Should I still try and apply?
Honest opinions please
How do I start? I’m 21F and I don’t want to get a coach. Any good YouTube channels you’d recommend? Also, as a complete beginner, how long would it take me to learn a scorpion handstand and other similar skills?
I’m 21F, and the only things I can do are the splits, a cartwheel, and a bridge (but not from standing).
I really want to learn how to do a bridge from standing and a handstand because I want to start contemporary dance.
I just don’t know where to begin. Is it possible for me to learn these skills, and roughly how long would it take? And also I cant imagine carrying my whole weight do I need to train my arms?
i have fl studio and i’m a complete beginner
do yall recommend any yt channels? and how long did it take yall to learn
I didn’t get hit or anything, but I’m in my early 20s and my mom took the keys and locked me inside. She’s been taking the keys every single day for the past few months.
Normally I just sweet-talk her or lie and say I have an appointment so I can leave. But we had a fight and I told her I genuinely can’t stand her anymore. The reason we fought was because I told her that yesterday I was at a café by myself. She got mad and said a woman has NO business being outside alone doing that, and that she’ll tell my uncle (probably empty threats).
If you couldn’t tell already, I have a very traditional immigrant mother, even though we live in the EU. Right now she has the keys and I literally can’t go outside. Honestly, I didn’t even have plans to go out today, but it’s the principle of it. What the fuck is my life?
She won’t even let me keep friends in my life. Now I only have one. I’m basically not allowed to do anything. When I had a job, she took all of my income. She’s controlling about what I wear too.
I genuinely don’t know what to do anymore. How can someone be this controlling? She’s forcing me into a box when I have so much passion, optimism, creativity, and energy. I’m a very creative person and I’m not allowed to express myself. I was never given an allowance as a kid, and now as an adult my money still gets taken away. I can’t cut my hair, dress how I want, buy things I like, or collect things I care about. I’m sorry, but this doesn’t even feel like living.
I also told her I think I might have ADHD because I can see it affecting my studies, and she completely dismissed it. She got angry and didn’t want me to get diagnosed. That honestly made me wonder if she genuinely wants me to stop functioning as my own person.
Bottom line: should I call the police right now? I’m not in physical danger at the moment, and I didn’t even plan on going out, but I’m just so done with all of this and I don’t know what to do anymore.
Also, whenever someone knocks on the door, she never opens it immediately. She tells everyone to stay quiet first and checks who it is. So if it were the police, I honestly don’t even think she’d open the door.
I’ve never really shared my singing with people IRL, so I honestly don’t know where I stand vocally.
I’d love feedback on the vocals (pitch, tone, and delivery) I recorded this on BandLab
What do you guys think?
I want to be independent, but I’m honestly scared because in my family, daughters being independent is seen as shameful and I have a very big family. I live in Europe, but I come from a culture where “honor” and reputation are taken extremely seriously, and honor-based violence does happen in some families/communities. I don’t know if my family would ever go that far, but the fear is still in the back of my mind and it makes the idea of leaving terrifying.
My mom is extremely controlling. She doesn’t allow friendships, barely lets me go out, takes away internet/phones/keys when angry, insults me, guilt trips me, and got physical a few times. + My relatives encourage her behavior.
The confusing part is that she’s not evil 24/7. Sometimes she cries, apologizes, hugs me, tells me she loves me, or acts caring after hurting me. She also seems extremely paranoid and anxious. If someone doesn’t answer the phone, she panics badly. I’ve seen her run in circles, panting, thinking something terrible happened, even though we’re all adults. I think part of her behavior comes from fear and trauma, which makes me feel guilty for wanting distance from her. That’s why i also fear running away and breaking contact. (I think it will kill her)
But at the same time, living like this is mentally exhausting. I feel behind socially and in life because I was never allowed to build friendships normally. Or do something with my life. People my age call me overly innocent and treat me like a kid.
Part of me feels guilty because I know my mom has issues too and probably genuinely loves me in her own way. Another part of me feels like staying here is destroying me.
What do I do? Can anyone relate? How did you deal with the guilt and fear of leaving?
