Deactivated Sun/Smart SIM – need help recovering number for GCash (no OTP)
Hi, I need advice because I’m kind of stuck right now.
My SIM (originally Sun Cellular, now under Smart) got deactivated recently (less than a week ago). The problem is that this number is linked to my GCash account, and now I can’t receive any OTPs so I’m completely locked out.
I’m not exactly sure why it got deactivated—possibly due to inactivity—but I didn’t expect it to happen this fast.
I’m planning to go to a Smart Store to ask for SIM reactivation or replacement with the same number, but I’m not sure:
- If it’s still possible since it’s already deactivated
- What requirements they might ask for
- If anyone here has successfully recovered a number in a similar situation
I’ve also emailed Smart, NTC, and DTI just in case, but I know going to the store is probably the main solution.
Has anyone experienced this before? Were you able to recover your number? Any tips on what to say or do when I go to Smart?
