Stem needed?

Hi all! Just wondering if I need a new stem or if I made an error

I can wind the watch fine in my movement holder. It seems like the original stem and crown.

I pulled the crown out to time setting position and then pushed the setting lever button to remove the stem to put the movement into the case. Since, I can only move the hands with the crown fully pushed in, see the pics for crown position. Do I need a new stem, or do I need to try and correctly position it back in the movement?
If a new stem needed, what's my best avenue?

I'm confused as an original stem and crown surely can't lose length?

Many thanks!

Lost spring!

Can anyone help? I really need to source a Poljot 2209 shock spring, the three prong type but I'm struggling to find one anywhere. Anyone managed to source one of these before or what are my options if not?

I read the wiki and checked the part sourcing. Just looking for some help

Thanks!

Lesson Learned

Rodico is actually pretty aggressive. It removed a letter from my dial whilst I was trying to get a few bits of dust. But am I mad for kind of liking the result?

Mystery washer

Anyone worked on a Longines 6952 before?

During disassembly this washer/spacer fell off onto my bench, its brass looking on one side and I've no idea where it came from. The parts list shows a "metal foil" part 499 but that box is not checked for the 6952, and I can only see a washer mentioned under the Day disc in the reassembly guide, this movement is dated only.

Any ideas? Chance a previous service used it as a shim? It doesn't look factory symmetrical. Thanks.

Gooooooldfinger

They love flying round the garden and then perching on the top of this tree. Finally managed to snap a pic of those amazing colours and thought I'd share it.

Mainspring bust?

Was hoping not to have to post this but it's stretching my understanding so here goes. I tried to clean this and wind it back in by hand instead of buying a new one, but I may need to.

It winds maybe 3/4 rotations of the crown and gets very tight then "clicks" a bit and goes loose again. Click spring and function works fine.

I've tried to attach pics the best I can, this is from the "underside" of the barrel. As you can see the arbor post aligns with the way id expect this to wind, but it just doesn't seem to..
Also a pic of the spring in the barrel at rest to help, as well as the inside of the barrel which looks like the spring has pressed up against it. The spring on my bench does bend "up" a tad. Hoping someone can explain to me what's going on here.

Thanks!!

Is it beyond saving?

Polishing

I haven't really ventured into the polishing world but as servicing the movement becomes easier for me, aesthetics of the case comes next!

I don't have any tools so would likely be hand polishing only. The reason for posting is I don't want to take a coating layer off if that's what's happening here, the back is badly beat up which is fine, but bezel and sides of the case could probably benefit from some love. Any advice for a newbie in this space?

Thanks!

Screwdrivers..

How are you demagnetising your screwdrivers? I bought a tool from Amazon but it's nearly hopeless. The tiny screws just stick to my screwdrivers. 3/4 of the ones I have are fine so I've been making it work by shaping them but that's not going to last forever.

Any recommendations? I've read a lot for full watch movements, but struggling to find for the screwdrivers specifically without breaking the bank.

Thanks

I've just serviced a Miyota 8205 / Citizen 8200, cleaned oiled and assembled. It keeps perfect time throughout the day. All functions work with the crown.

At about 10.35 (once calendar works engage maybe?) the minute hand seems to stop or move very very slowly. Seconds tick over at normal pace. If I pull the crown out and advance the hands the missed 10 minutes myself, all goes back to normal.

What's happening here? Why does it keep slowing/stopping the minute hand around 10.35?

I've no timegrapher or such for amplitude measurements -anyone hit this before any advice would be appreciated.
