First fish on a traditional fly rod!
Been catching on spin gear and tenkara for a while, finally decided to get an actual fly rod. This is so fun!

Getting into fly fishing and would like to hire a guide, however it seems there's over a dozen options so I'm a little confused on which one to go for.
Anyone have any experiences with certain guides that I should check out? Would most likely be booking for a single person and a single day.
Lipping a fish is kind’ve fun, we don’t get to do that with Trout and Pike lol.
Brought my UL setup to NYC w me and caught these two guys, plus a third who got off as I was about to unhook him!! Super fun fish. Assuming they’re bluegill?
Finally got some Nissin level line, just have some questions.
How exactly do I create a loop similar to my furled line so I can use the girth hitch to attach this to my lillian?
I also want to add a tippet ring to it, can I just use a uni knot to attach it?
Lastly, what should the length be? Running a 12ft rod
Time to practice with this for a bit and then upgrade the line!
Will be visiting NYC soon from Canada, bringing my MH and UL combo with me. The licensing seems fairly straight forward, but more so wondering about my setup and easiest access spots.
The MH has 15lb braid, on it, would 15lb fluoro leader suffice? Or should I step up? Only really used leaders for Pike so normally I run 40lb fluoro on 15lb braid, but I'm assuming 40lb fluoro would be overkill. Mostly plan on fishing with a paddletail on a jighead.
Also, which part of the city will give me the easiest access to fishing spots?
Say you get out on the river and don’t see any Trout surfacing or find bug’s under the rocks. What would be the first thing you’d throw out to see if the fish are there/biting?
Didn’t realize I left my rod in the water while unhooking him and now my Miravel is soaked, oops!
Thinking of adding a copper john or san juan, any other suggestions? Mainly targeting Trout.
Interested to see how these work on UL tackle, just picked them up
Currently running a Shimano Miravel 1000 on a 13 Fishing Defy Silver UL F. Got the rod when I first got into UL fishing as it was decently priced, however I've out grown it.
Would the Daiwa Presso be a good choice/upgrade? I've been hearing lots about it. Also open to other suggestions!
On the hunt for some tiny spoons! Currently using the Mepps Syclops #00 and they're a bit too big for this tiny pond I like to fish. I've heard the Kastmasters by Acme are good, plan to pick up a couple in 1/32oz just unsure what colour to go for.
Whats everyones favourite?
They’re 1”. Thinking of throwing them on a trout magnet jighead, but wondering if there’s other alternatives.
Recently got these by Northland and they seem okay, though a bit annoying to adjust and leave a small kink in my 4lb mono.
Any alternatives? Mainly throwing flies, trout magnets, and the mini 1/200oz trout magnets.
