Finally rejoined the Sig club

I used to own a 16" Spear LT a few years back but ended up selling it because it wasn't getting much range time. Eventually started missing it so I got myself an 11.5" this time. SBR form finally got approved so I was able to get all the parts on and can't wait to get it out to the range.

Parts were chosen based on my lessons learned from the old Spear plus my general experience gained in the time between:

---

Sig Hexium 556 Suppressor with Angled Spade STRIX Clutch-Lok Adapter

  • Normally you can't run hub suppressors on the OEM muzzle device but this adapter finally allows it.
  • I was going for a (mostly) Sig build so I wanted to try their new can.
  • Kind of silly that they're still shipping these with those lame clutch-lok devices but the Angled Spade adapter is a nice workaround.

Emissary Development Handbrake

  • Not much to say here, just a nice handbrake that I have on a few of my other guns as well.
  • Still deciding on which placement is best. The handguard gets hot up front so I find myself changing where I grip it quite often.

Sig Romeo 8T AMR Red Dot + Juliet 3T Magnifier

  • Very cool system that lets you have one reticle for magnified and a different one for unmagnified. A little magnet in the magnifier causes the Red Dot to switch when it gets close enough and switch back when you flip it out of the way.
  • I have an Eotech but I find myself really liking this optic.

JMAC Customs ST Skeleton Tube 6" Bronze

  • This thing is awesome. You can remove the brace from your OEM Sig folding mechanism and attach this guy instead. It emulates a buffer tube to let you run any AR15 stock and has the notches to lock in your various telescoping positions.
  • Highly recommend this over Sig's frankly ridiculous $300 buffer tube adapter.
  • Best part is that the folding mechanism still works!

Geissele Super MCX Charging Handle

  • I'm swapping between this and Next Level Armament's MCX charging handle but this one has a higher lip that helps deflect gas a tiny bit more.
  • It's not like a night and day gas difference but it's noticeably better than other charging handles I've tried.

Driven Arms Co. SCG Sawtooth Grip

  • Love this grip. It's got an aggressive stippling that helps you fight the Spear's tendency to rotate forward and down due to its front-heavy nature, especially during reloads.
  • It's not as abrasive as it looks. I've had this grip on multiple guns and used it over 3-4 hour range sessions and my palms are just fine.

Geissele MCX Trigger

  • I got this mainly because I'm used to Geissele's flat trigger shoe, it just feels more comfortable for me. And because I have the disposable income to spend on it.

  • However, I would not recommend it due to the price. If you're on the fence thinking about it, the OEM trigger is plenty good enough.

I was looking into the Plan B hub mounting system and tried to see if there was some comprehensive list of all hub compatible suppressors on the market. Couldn't find one so I started making my own.

The suppressor list is in this post a little below, but if you're interested in reading more about the Plan B or "Bravo" hub mounting system, you can find the full google doc here.

It's got a lot of useful information like how the mounting system works, how to check compatibility and some examples of muzzle devices, adapters and of course the full list of suppressors supported by this system. I'll try to keep it up to date as much as possible but let me know if I missed any or if any of the info in that doc is inaccurate. I'd like for it to be a useful guide for newcomers to the hub mounting system.

For the record - I am not affiliated with nor sponsored by any of the companies mentioned in that doc.
