Bought a my first real keyboard on facebook, any advice for beginner?

A little background, I used be a producer but I’ve never been formally trained on the piano and never had more than a 25-key. I can play chords by just hearing what sounds good but have no clue what I’m actually playing. I don’t really have an interest in playing others music although I will of course to learn but ultimately my goal is to compose my own music so how do I actually go about doing that? And what route should I take to learn in general?

Got these from the library, question about Salo…

So I really only have 2 chances a day to watch films at 6am before I go to work and 10pm right before sleep. I heard Salo is wild and I know nothing about it so do you think it’ll be better to start or end my day with it? Or is it just gonna fk me up no matter what

Used bluray pickup

All used except Rush Hour. Finding an And1 mixtape in the wild is kind of wild, I’ve only seen bootlegs as a kid 😂 I’ve only just discovered Del Toro through the devil’s backbone and pan’s labyrinth which I loved so Im excited to see Hellboy and I only vaguely remember shutter island so thats pretty much new to me

Ebay pickup

So I’m learning that ebay is pretty much the B&N 50% off sale year round 😂 Also how is Studio Canal? I never heard of them but I wanted to see Ran

Criterion Haul Questionnaire

$15 pickup

Found at my local book store

  1. What is the first movie you plan to watch from your haul and why? Le Deuxième Souffle, sounds interesting* *
  2. Is there anything from this haul that you have been looking forward to owning for a long time? No
  3. Are any of your purchases blind buys? If so, why did you select them? Yes, sounds interesting
  4. What is a Criterion you’re hoping to add to your collection next? Whatever tickles my fancy

Ngl, quitting streaming is easy asf

I’ve been collecting dvd/bluray for about 4 months now and between the library, kanopy, collecting from the thrift and used book stores, ebay, or even new on sales, quitting streaming services is actually easy asf and so much more fulfilling and fun. It’s like I’ve started to build a relationship with the things a watch, it’s so weird. I feel like I’m connecting more to the art form that film is rather than just something to put on when I’m bored. Something about the tactile feedback of going through the process of watching a movie makes me actually focus I guess because I’m intentionally choosing to go through that inconvenient process to watch it if that makes sense. Do y’all feel similar? I wish I would’ve started this in the golden age of dvd collecting😮‍💨

4 months in

Look at what y’all started 🥹 cancelled all my streaming services this week including Spotify as I’ve started collecting cd’s recently too. Feels so freeing

My last week with Spotify

My subscription ends this week and I’m not renewing.. went to my local thrift and found a cd player and got some cd’s between B&N and a used bookstore. Can’t wait to grow my collection.

Idk how I’m gonna survive in the car though with no cd player 😮‍💨 any advice?

My first CD purchase in all my 30 years

I grew up with a few cd’s but never bought them myself, I was a mp3 & limewire kid. I don’t think I’ve ever paid for music in my life. Now I’m getting into physical media like cd’s and dvd’s and this is the start of my cd collection.

If you guys would like to leave any tips as a new music collector would love to read them

How my July went

Had to order Pan’s Labyrinth so I’m still waiting on that, but I’m good until the next sale now 🥵 I tried to buy what appealed to me and not just common ones I saw on hauls and everything has been a joy to watch so far.

Is Odyssey worth seeing in 4dx if I already saw it?

I only just heard of 4dx and found out I have one in my city, just wondering is the experience good enough to be worth seeing again in that format. Seems fun

What are your guys thoughts on blind buying?

As a new collector a part of me feels like I shouldn’t do it due to risk of wasting money on something I didn’t like or will never watch again but then there’s a part of me that feels like that might be where a lot of the fun is

My first Criterion films

I’m a new collector and this month was my first time hearing of criterion, I may have sheeped into buying them but they’re so cool 😎

  1. First movie I plan to watch is Parasite because everything else is long asf so I have to make time
  2. No
  3. The Samurai trilogy and Seven Samurai were blind buys because I love martial arts, kung fu, and samurai stuff so I’m sure I’ll love it
  4. The next thing I want to add is the Bruce Lee set
