The new fountain...

Thanks for the opinions recently on trying a water fountain.

We got one the other day and Roo took to it straight away.

We haven't told him it's actually for a c.a.t yet.....

VW Beetle turned into...

Many different ideas all colliding at once....

EDIT to answer some questions that seem to have popped up:

  1. I am real.
  2. The car is real
  3. I did my best with alt text while walking my dog. The addition of some alt text seems to have irritated people more than if I had left it out completely. There is always room for improvement.
  4. Let's get back to discussing the car mod, right?

Have lovely days!

Alt Text

Side view of an olive-green classic Volkswagen Beetle parked at the curb in front of houses. The car is decorated with military aircraft-style shark-mouth artwork, including a fierce red-and-white eye over the front wheel arch and large jagged teeth stretching across the door. Bright red wheels contrast with the muted green body. Trees, fences, and houses form the suburban background.

Sole runner transition vario3

Hey folks

Just wanted to share a positive review for these after a few months of wear.

Size is a tiny bit generous but I just wear a slightly thicker sock.

Stitched sides haven't come away yet (unlike the last 3x pairs of Vivobarefoot - never going back to that brand).

Ground feel is more than a pair of Xeros I have and just less than my (surviving) pair of Vivobarefoot Primus trail runners.

They're not too warm even in the current UK heatwave, pretty light to wear and just blooming comfortable.

I am thinking about trying some of their other styles as could do with some low sided shoes.

Anyway, there you have it. Many miles in and one happy customer so thought I would share the recommendation!

M32 - imagine if...

Ok so this is a bit of a thought experiment. But after learning about a stream in South Korea that was unearthed from under a crumbling elevated expressway, I got to thinking....

Wouldn't this be amazing for Bristol? Unearthing our waterway past etc.

I'm not entirely sure where the traffic would go, but it's got me dreaming...

Solar film installers in Bristol?

Hi folks

We have a garden office pod which has one wall of glass - so it's like an oven in these crazy heatwaves we've been having.

We want to install solar film, but the size of the glass means we are unlikely to get a good smooth finish by ourselves.

Can you recommend a company who do this in the Bristol area? We reached out to a couple last year but didn't get any replies...

There are quite a few on Google but always value recommendations! Thanks in advance!

Portable AC unit window kits - does outward opening make a difference?

Because it's More Than Slightly Warm at the moment, we're thinking about getting a portable AC unit.

Virtually all pictures showing window fitting kits show the window opening inwards.

All of ours open outwards.

I appreciate that this might be a silly question, but does it matter?

Drink fountain?

Has anyone got a drinking fountain for your B?

Or tried it?

If so, how has it gone? Did they take it to straight away? Was it a gradual thing?

Bristol made dog walking bags?

Hey folks - last time I walked into the city, I'm sure I saw a sign at the edge of Eastville Park / Muller Road pedestrian crossing (GMap link) for a brand of dog walking bags/rucksacks based or manufactured in Bristol.

I can't remember the brand for the life of me and a Google Search isn't helping. Perhaps I dreamed it (I thought it may have been Barking Bags, but they are based in Devon) - or perhaps they no longer exist.

Can you help? If anyone happens to be down there can you keep an eye out for the sign and let me know?

We need a new adventure bag and want to support a local business if we can!

Look what my other half found....

There appears to be a copy for sale on American eBay for an eye watering sum... But this little out of print gem comes from the UK and was published in 1986.

Ok, it's of its time. It always refers to the Basenji as 'he', uses out dated language to describe where they came from, and refers to married couples in the 'old way' (Eg Mr and Mrs James Smith).

But it is a delightfully love filled handbook for the breed.

It contains some history - including reporting on a pre-war Tatler description of the breed as "half angel, half cat". It also talks about training - "you can not brain-wash him, but you can negotiate with him".

Evidently written by someone with precisely the right degree of love and devotion (ie total and incurable), it's a great addition to our slowly growing pile of "basenji stuff". Obsessed? Us? Never!

Do you have a VW Id. Buzz?

My other half and I are thinking about upgrading our car, and maybe to an ID Buzz.

Cheeky request but if you have one, could we have a look at it? We have seen many from the outside but not had a chance to chat with the owners - and the nearest 2nd hand one in a VW dealer is Swindon!

We're interested in how versatile the interior space is, how the seats fold, real world comfort etc. Basically all the things you can't really get a sense of online!

Thanks in advance!

Hey folks

Has anyone got an OS map of Bristol? If so, how big is the area it covers?

Is it just the central parts or does it also cover everything within the modern city boundary?
