When did 'ey' (or 'ye') stop meaning 'the' on gravestones?

When did 'ey' (or 'ye') stop meaning 'the' on gravestones?

I've tried finding out more about this - have noticed this a lot on older graves in the West Country.

I assume the e over y is a form of 'ye' or 'the' and done to save space?

But I would love to know more. Various searches haven't helped so far...

Thanks!

Deposits, stamp duty and mortgages

We're starting to think about moving house next year. It's only our 2nd house so haven't been through this before.

Re Stamp Duty on any "new" house: Can this be added to the cost of the mortgage, so long as it doesn't go above the relevant loan-to-value ratio?

Deposits: I understand that this can't be added to the mortgage. We think our current house has increased in value by more than the deposit would be on our next house. So, do we need to have the deposit in hand now (ie when we walk through the door of any viewing), or can the deposit get taken out of the sale value achieved on our current house?

Thanks so much in advance!

I can only dream of such flexibility...

From the first pic it doesn't look too extreme.

If this was a yoga pose my other half suggested "Broken Swan"!

If so it is my first one in the wild!

The plains of his ancestors

So, climate change is no laughing matter. The land around us is tinder dry (South West UK.)

But I imagine Roo has a genetic memory of being on the grasslands of Africa. And, for a moment, staring towards the sun, he's right there....

Hey Dad, I love you!

Oh, that pack of biscuits? Goodness me I had no idea it was there!

(The photo angle makes all the difference, right?)

Healthy male B weight?

Hey folks

Roo came to us last October at 16.6kgs.

He is now 4.5 years old, healthy, and (from what I understand) of average build/height.

We have been slowly getting his weight down and today he weighed in at 13.5kgs.

This has been done through food control, low calorie treats and plenty of exercise.

I think I can see a little more that he can lose - I feel he has some internal fat reserves under his ribs - but it's feeling like marginal gains now before he feels too lean.

How heavy are your adult male Bs? Just interested in a comparison as the only two others we know are gorgeous but very petite girls!

Maybe she doesn't hate me...

I've been a bit worried about this Monstera. From over weight on one side to leaves that just haven't looked happy, she's been a bit of a concern.

But - look! A light prune, some new soil and three new leaves at once! Firmly keeping my fingers crossed for them....

26degreesC and his nose is still cold

Apparently.

Meanwhile I am obsessed with his little paintbrush tail.

The new fountain...

Thanks for the opinions recently on trying a water fountain.

We got one the other day and Roo took to it straight away.

We haven't told him it's actually for a c.a.t yet.....

VW Beetle turned into...

Many different ideas all colliding at once....

EDIT to answer some questions that seem to have popped up:

  1. I am real.
  2. The car is real
  3. I did my best with alt text while walking my dog. The addition of some alt text seems to have irritated people more than if I had left it out completely. There is always room for improvement.
  4. Let's get back to discussing the car mod, right?

Have lovely days!

Alt Text

Side view of an olive-green classic Volkswagen Beetle parked at the curb in front of houses. The car is decorated with military aircraft-style shark-mouth artwork, including a fierce red-and-white eye over the front wheel arch and large jagged teeth stretching across the door. Bright red wheels contrast with the muted green body. Trees, fences, and houses form the suburban background.

Sole runner transition vario3

Hey folks

Just wanted to share a positive review for these after a few months of wear.

Size is a tiny bit generous but I just wear a slightly thicker sock.

Stitched sides haven't come away yet (unlike the last 3x pairs of Vivobarefoot - never going back to that brand).

Ground feel is more than a pair of Xeros I have and just less than my (surviving) pair of Vivobarefoot Primus trail runners.

They're not too warm even in the current UK heatwave, pretty light to wear and just blooming comfortable.

I am thinking about trying some of their other styles as could do with some low sided shoes.

Anyway, there you have it. Many miles in and one happy customer so thought I would share the recommendation!

M32 - imagine if...

Ok so this is a bit of a thought experiment. But after learning about a stream in South Korea that was unearthed from under a crumbling elevated expressway, I got to thinking....

Wouldn't this be amazing for Bristol? Unearthing our waterway past etc.

I'm not entirely sure where the traffic would go, but it's got me dreaming...

Solar film installers in Bristol?

Hi folks

We have a garden office pod which has one wall of glass - so it's like an oven in these crazy heatwaves we've been having.

We want to install solar film, but the size of the glass means we are unlikely to get a good smooth finish by ourselves.

Can you recommend a company who do this in the Bristol area? We reached out to a couple last year but didn't get any replies...

There are quite a few on Google but always value recommendations! Thanks in advance!

Portable AC unit window kits - does outward opening make a difference?

Because it's More Than Slightly Warm at the moment, we're thinking about getting a portable AC unit.

Virtually all pictures showing window fitting kits show the window opening inwards.

All of ours open outwards.

I appreciate that this might be a silly question, but does it matter?
