It's time we settle this once and for all. Sun or Moon, which side are you on?

(The post title is a joke, obviously you don't have to pick a side) I confirmed none of the images used in these moodboards were AI generated and located their sources. More information about them can be found bellow. They are listed in the order they appear.

Don't get me wrong, I love celestial Whimsigoth, but I love when other parts of the natural world are included.

I took the time to confirm none of the images I used to create this moodboard were AI generated and to find their original sources. They are listed in the order they appear:

Hand painted cabinet

I wanted to post the cabinet I got at an estate sale earlier this year and refinished, since I’ve seen other folks sharing similar DIY projects. Im still incredibly proud of how it turned out, every time I look at it makes me happy 😊 I think I really captured my vision of an enchanted cabinet of curiosities.

Everything was hand painted by me, and you can see some of my pictures of the project at different stages. I made plenty of mistakes along the way but imo it turned out stunning in the end.

What music do you think fits the Whimsy Goth vibe 🔮🌝

Hey everybody, Im curious about the music you listen to when you want to channel the witchy celestial nature vibes of WhimsyGoth?

For me the first thing that comes to mind is Cocteau Twins, Kate Bush, some Shoegaze and other ambient dark wave type music. But I’ve also seen moody 60s rock featured on WhimsyGoth playlists, Fleetwood Mac, Stevie Nicks, etc. Even some TradGoth Rock.

WhimsyGoth doesn’t have a specific musical sound that goes along with it though, or at least not one Im aware of, so I’d love to know your thoughts. Do you vide with these picks or is there something else you think fits better?

How do you cope with dating nihilism?

I’d love to find a boyfriend, a partner who I can build a life with.

But the prospect of using dating apps overwhelms the hell out of me. I’ve heard so many horror stories from folks, about chasers and other disrespectful behavior, Im intimidated to even try. That and my dysphoria gets in the way. I wont be happy with anyone who doesn’t see me as a man, but I’ve only been on T for about a year and I still struggle to pass. It’s difficult for me to imagine that any cis queer men would see and treat me as a man now. I desperately want top surgery and am also considering some types of bottom surgery— but I also don’t know how the fuck I’ll ever afford it and it can take years before surgeries are completed.

It’s hard feeling like the only way I can get the kind of romantic and sexual relationship I want is by waiting till some unknown point in the future. Harder still not to become discouraged and like I should just give up entirely.

I want to know, does anyone else struggle with these kind of feelings and if so how do you cope? Are there any strategies you’ve discovered to move forward?

Does it get easier?

Im (26m) a living liver donor. I donated 60% of my liver to my father last month, he was suffering from alcohol related cirrhosis. Our surgery date was June 9th and it’s been about five weeks since then. I was able to recover from the surgery much faster than my father on account of my overall good health, and was only there for about a week. But my father was in the hospital about two weeks post surgery, and then had to be readmitted for another week because of complications caused by possible infection and fluid retention.

Right after my surgery, mom was staying with me to help with the early stages of my recovery, but she abruptly decided to leave at the end of June. So these past couple of weeks it’s pretty much been just me supporting my dad and also trying to recover myself. I don’t have any pain like I did in the first days post-op, but Im not sleeping well, my stomach is a mess because of my gallbladder being removed, and I have a pretty consistent back ache. Im struggling with my mental health, though Im seeing a transplant councilor and attending a support group when I can.

Im hoping that other caregivers of transplant recipients can share their experiences with surviving the first few months after transplant. Im feeling very discouraged because the whole reason I agreed to donate was to save my dad’s life and improve his health. But right now things seem worse than ever and it’s difficult to see the light at the end of the tunnel.
