I have an emergency!! pls recommend audiobooks on hoopla

Guys I urgently need recs for horror audiobooks available on Hoopla!! I don’t have an audible anymore 😭😭 all I’m finding is thrillers… pls

Edit- Some of the options I’ve found that I don’t feel like are really “horror” are:

• That’s Not My Name by Megan Lally
• Appetite for Innocence by Lucinda Berry
• The Last Word by Taylor Adams
• Hidden Pictures by Jason Rekulak
• Episode Thirteen by Craig DiLouie

(Most recent reads/listens are The Killing Kind and Depraved by Bryan Smith, so I think I’m looking for like some legit HORROR, something engaging)

Honestly at my wits end & feel like I’m gonna lose my sanity

In need of urgent advice, solidarity, I don’t know what… but I am really struggling to make it through my shift (I have 4 hours left) and my clients need me so I cannot leave.

I am caregiver for a couple, ages 94 & 89. 94 year old man with no “major” health issues but has trouble getting around, episodes of anxiety and confusion, issues with medication etc. 89 year old woman is my “MAIN” client. She needs constant 24/7 care and attention. She cannot use the bathroom, walk, or function on her own. She has debilitating osteoporosis & Alzheimer’s on the severe end of the spectrum.

(Context: I’ve been a caregiver for 10 years. Without sounding conceited, I am great at my job. Never had a client who didn’t love me, I am the one they call when clients refuse to eat, take meds, etc.)

This specific couple have a lot of family who are constantly in & out, including a son right next door who stops by 5-10 times a day, changing medication schedules, leaving notes, telling me opposite things, all the usual overbearing unnecessary things. Fine. I don’t care. I know how to handle it, it’s whatever.

HERE is where I’m starting to be at my wits end, however. It’s now affecting my client’s health. I’ve been here for six months. In this time, I’ve gotten her on a consistent schedule with sleeping, eating, hygiene, getting dressed, pretty much everything. I have been able to coax her into eating when she won’t eat, going to the bathroom when she won’t go, letting me get her dressed when she didn’t wanna get dressed. And I am STILL ignored, talked down to, belittled, and waved away by every single person in their family including my other client, her husband.

She’s having a horrible day pain wise today, she can barely stay awake and needs to rest. She is not able to do this without me assisting her in doing so, ie reminding her when she tries to get up every 15 minutes that she needs to rest, adjusting things for her when she says she needs to, telling her I already did the dishes when she says she wants to go do them….

And ALL. DAY. LONG. Every single person who’s been here has ignored me. She’s almost fallen three times because they all keep coming in and waking her up, asking her if she wants things like something to eat or a blanket(things that I have already done, like I do every time I’m here.) I told them she doesn’t like a certain type of food, they buy it anyway, now she hasn’t eaten dinner. Her husband wants to sit outside, I take him aside and ask him to wait for her pain meds to kick in so she doesn’t fall, he goes outside anyway. Now she wants to go too. She has yet to actually rest one time in the 9 hours I’ve been here. Not once without being disturbed.

I had to pee, so I say “I’m going to run in and pee, please don’t let her get up without me” - her husband’s response is “I can get her up.”

…… ?!?!?!?!?!?! You guys….

I have tried nicely explaining things, I’ve tried being blunt and saying “I would prefer you didn’t” and “she does not need to do that right now, thank you” and even “I am not comfortable with x, I’m sorry I have to make sure she is safe.” And NONE of them listen to me. They do what they want anyway. I am here, not for the joke pay that I make, or to spend 12 hours away from my child. I’m here because I care for my clients and I want them to get the help they need, and I’m genuinely so tired of being treated as if my opinion means nothing when I’m the one who’s gotten her to a stable point with schedules and things.

At what point do I just stop even saying anything then???? I want to just simply keep all my opinions & thoughts to myself from now on, but she will be the person affected by that. So I suppose I just keep standing up & speaking up just to be dismissed.

Rant over, I suppose.

Please spoil and review Horror Movie by Paul Tremblay for me…. I give up.

Alright. I have never DNF’d a book in my life. But guys…. I can’t do it. I’ve been trying to finish this book for two weeks. I’ve never been so bored and uninterested in anything and I’ve even tried the audiobook. Today I realized I was only 30% through the book and I felt genuine dread & exhaustion lol. For comparison, I typically read books of the same length in less than 3 days.

Ive seen this book & especially this author recommended a ton and I don’t know what it is that’s making me so bored by it but there is absolutely nothing happening, no exposition and not in a mysterious “what’s gonna happen?” way… I’ve been given nothing to be invested in the characters… I think I just have to tap out at this point 😭 but its killing me to have my first unfinished book.

I was inspired by seeing a few comments from a post about authors people gave up on here where this book was mentioned, so I figured I’d just ask for it to be spoiled for me! Unless someone can tell me it totally gets better and motivate me to finish it I at least want to know what happens.
