How quickly do y'all judge whether a book is worth reading?

Is it by the prologue?

Is it just by the first chapter?

Or you do read atleast few chapters if they're 1k words long?

Just a random thought I got. I was watching insta, scrolling through reels on movies made by sanjay leela bhansali. And I don't need to tell how beautiful all movies are. They take you to past, take you to that era, it's almost like all characters are real and you almost forget these are actors.

A reel related to Padmavaat came where Deepika was dancing on Ghoomar and I remembered the school act we had last year on Rani Padmini. I really love Dancing, and always had dream to participate in dance or theatre club of school. School almost about to end. Just this year then it's just university where I'm definitely going to struggle to make friends because I'm really social anxious.

I always wished to participate in school activities related to dance or theatre, it had always been one of my interest but our school barely gives other students chance. They always have some selected students from start and we don't even realize when selection of these activities are done. Like it happens in secret and we only get to know about it when students are selected and now going regularly for practice.

I have never in my life participated in these, yes I tried my best to become part of it till 9th grade now it's been some years and I gave up. Because now there's no point. I only participated in exhibition and that's because almost whole class was involved in it and first time my class teachers asked me by herself.

I really wish I wasn't that introverted, but now I don't even blame my social anxiety considering how much I tried to participate in past. Sometimes I nearly became part of it then the activity never happened. Like do I have some sort of curse or anything? Teachers advices us to participate in other literally activities, sports but I don't think I'm that's good for that. I'm not even interested. I really think maybe I should have been one of those girl who laugh loudly, skip classes, causes trouble, seek attention. Because that's what get them this popular in school, isn't it? No matter how much teachers say they hate these type of students. At end they choose them first, they're more casual with them. Students like me are mostly invisible. I have online friends and I see them participating in these activities and I have always been jealous about this.

And as soon as I closed Instagram, the music stopped. All the reality hit that how boring my life really is.

This tea is about the community I was talking about in other post. It was called OMC. Basically a role playing community where you can take roles of any indian celebrity, character etc.

Happened in around 2022. There was this girl with role of Avneet Kaur started all issue. In the community there were multiple men, teens, young adults too ig. Now this girl! Basically had affairs with most of guy here and omg she was sooo male centered. Her whole personality was based on y/n material. She would act cute with everyone, flirt with everyone act like girl's girl just for attention.

Now the community went in chaos when this girl caused a whole drama.

The drama included:

• *x*ting with community's one admin

• having relations with other members at same time

• literally giving birth on her mb (YES U HEARD RIGHT)

• Acting like she's indTV serial's FL

• Her so called getting kidnapped story

• posting fake pictures of her ma*e out with one member.

• Video of her m*king out in a lift.

• running away to marry one of member in a temple in a red saree

• creating fake ID's of boys with the fictional men personality to make everyone think how much she's desired by men.

Ultimately she got exposed by one of her friends, she betrayed her friend and made everyone hate her.

Result:

We figured out how many pedos, creeps, and fake accounts we had in the community which resulted in members leaving and now community is dead from 3 years.

PS: there were ss of her xting with the admin on wattpad but the book got deleted suddenly. Even the links eventually got removed. There's a last link I have which works but i forgot it's context.

Do you guys remember when writers used to threaten readers to vote or they will remove the book? There was one writer I remember in 2021, she threatened to remove her existence from world (yes not only wattpad). I used to get so emotional back then for them 😭😭

I think we all are aware about everything happening in Taliban. I have seen people on social media asking why no one is doing anything for them. And honestly I don't really know what people from outside country can even do except making everyone aware about the situation. Sure, you can even make donations or anything but it's not just about that. We know the government there is shi*, it is the problem, most of men there are misogynistic and represents their religion as something it is not (No hate to men or any religion).

What are some solution you think people can do to help women in Taliban?

The situation is worst. If we are creeped up by the situation from outside only I don't even want to imagine how horrible is to live there.

I really really hate to say this but wattpad is probably not a platform where good books get the recognition they deserve.

Maybe because before the algorithm was actually good. Even if you get 4-5 loyal readers wattpad starts to push up your book but now? good books barely get any recognition. If your book doesn't include smut many readers immediately skip your book. If it's not all about weird y/n material romance, you don't get readers.

Wattpad is not a platform for books with good plot with romance. Authors who worked hard in 2021-22 got the recognition they deserve and aside from that new writers are still struggling. And the way wattpad is so so dead right now? 😭 this sub is like an alternative to have fun rn maybe I should writing here only?? 😭😭

One thing I loved about wattpad is how they gave you a platform to write and gain audience and if you got lucky you can make a whole career out of this (which is my dream too).

if not wattpad then what we writers even have? Ao3 is good but it mainly pushes up FF only. I don't remember if I ever saw anything non ff there.

What was the first wattpad book you read and that became your most favorite??

What are your opinions on third person's pov?? I have see many people not liking it in romance. What are really chances of success of third person povs on wattpad?

I have literally made multiple weird ahh comments on this sub and other subs and probably said some Controversial things lol.

Sometimes I like to put myself in delusion that one day I'll become a famous author on Wattpad then my readers will see me active on reddit and I'll become one of those controversial authors because of all the questionable decisions I made😍

Also the biggest mistake I made on reddit is not keeping my account anonymous and keeping my username as my pen name I use on Wattpad 😔

Is it only with me with whom this happens?

For some reason there are always accounts on Wattpad which will add your book to their reading list but then you will never see a single vote, comment or anything from them. One similar thing I noticed about these accounts are:

They barely have followers

They barely follows anyone

There are hundreds of book in their reading lists.

All this wasn't a big thing until I noticed the similarities between these accounts😭

As a writer who's trying to get attention I try to engage with my readers, followers or anyone I see trying my book. I will even message on their mb to thank for adding my book to their reading list but there will never be a single reply. Basically they completely disappear after that and I don't really understand whether these are bot accounts or actually people behind these accounts.

Other than plot what are other things you see in a book on watty that attracts you and pushes you to try it?

Everyone has their own story about how they discovered wattpad 😋. Some came to write, some came to read, people like me came for both 😛.
