How do you compartmentalize

Hi everyone. I've been freelance for about 4 years for context. Lately I've kind of been losing my mind, and I seriously need advice on how to compartmentalize with this often overbearing and exhausting career.

I want to preface this by saying I am not trying to be ungrateful. I really am glad I have work and stable income and I don't want this to seem like I am taking it for granted. It's just that lately every time I've been able to take time off it is plagued by pages. I feel like I have no time to catch up in life at all

I told my firm to only schedule me 3 days a week. Somehow despite this every day of the week I am bombarded with emails, do this job, no wait that one cancelled, wait this one was backordered, this one is expedited, PLEASE COVER AN ALL DAY HEARING, etc. I can genuinely scroll through my email and see at least 10 emails per day even on days off.

My scopists have all become very busy too, so I feel like I have no support system when it comes to pages piling up. I have been working on most transcripts myself and my God does that consume HOURS of your time. Either way, I proofread everything because I sadly have not had great experiences with proofreaders and I feel very protective over the final product and want to ensure its quality myself. Maybe I am punishing myself that way.

Because of this I am really starting to hate this job, which I shouldn't. On paper, it's amazing, interesting legal cases, different locations every day (sometimes remote), freelance so I can dictate my schedule, yippee ! But somehow it seems even if I cut back my days, or I don't, or I send out pages, or I don't, it all ends the same way. My "free time" and all my weekends are spent in total guilt that I'm not actively working on pages, because I know I have to do it eventually anyway so there's no escape and I should "just get it done". I am losing enjoyment in things because I am so scatterbrained and constantly staring at calendars and lists constantly just trying to tell myself it's okay to not be working right now. It's just so all-consuming.

How do you guys handle this? Am I blowing this out of proportion? Am I doing something wrong that I could be doing better? Any and all advice is welcome!!!

quoted $1400 to repair a valve cover gasket? is this reasonable?

hi everyone! for starts i know close to nothing about cars! we have a 2002 toyota camry with v6 engine and it has been leaking oil slowly, but the actual oil level stays the same?! it has now started to "die", as in the engine dies after about a mile of driving, power steering shuts off, and you cant depress the brake at all, but the power is still on (radio/lights/etc). we have to turn it off and back on to get it going again enough to get home.

today we took it to the mechanic and he said its likely the valve cover gasket and quoted us $1400. i googled and found a variety of prices but none reaching 1400?? what should we do? thank you!

please help, growing mass on nose

this is our cat winston, he is a sweetheart. he always had a black spot on his nose but it was flat with his nose, totally benign. in the past couple months it suddenly expanded, and the vet told us they couldn't do anything because it's his nose and it's too sensitive.

i am really worried because it has grown more. he shows no symptoms at all, eats/drinks like normal, and is happy and normal behavior as always. but i am too worried.

he is currently 9 years old, im in florida, and he has been neutered since a baby. any advice is appreciated 🙏😢

just finished the show

i just watched the last episode and i'm crying so hard my chest hurts LOL.. i originally thought this show was like a stupid drama show, something like the netflix originals out there today. but from the first episode, i was hooked, and it is nothing like that. i honestly love every character, i feel like i am grieving a chapter in my life closing. this show honestly helped me keep my head up and gave me something to look forward to. ******spoilers below

i just wanted to vent to people who understand. i am curious also what everyone thought of the ending? i had so many theories for how it would go but honestly the way everything ended up left my head a little rattled almost. i still love it, but the last season opened up SO many plots that had to be resolved fast and it made me feel stressed the whole time lol. tom and lynette's separation kind of pissed me off, mike ... i literally cannot stand that they did that to mike it was truly unforgivable. and the trial, well i work in the legal field so it was a little hard to suspend disbelief when the trial was honestly so unrealistic LOL.

anyways i'm gonna keep sobbing now, i would love to hear everyone's thoughts of how it wrapped up
