How to eat GARLIC (another garlicpost)
I’m making this cus I saw multiple people asking how to eat garlic (assuming your stomach can tolerate it). I will address the smell as well.
The best way health-wise (from what I have read) is raw, crushed, left out for 10-15 minutes. Dont mind this because in that time, you can cook other food or whatever and just add the garlic on top.
How I take it: I chop or crush 2 cloves of garlics, leave that for 10 mins, then sprinkle them on top of my avocado toast. Sprinkle some salt over it to subdue the strong taste, and it actually tastes quite good, complements the taste.
Garlic powder is wayy less effective (if at all) so I don’t recommend that, its primary purpose is to add flavor, not health benefits.
Aged garlic is also beneficial in a different sense so u can look into that if you wish; the allicin in raw garlic converts into SAC which is great for you as well. Has more cardioprotective properties as well. This also tastes much sweeter so you might prefer that if your palate is sensitive or repulsed by raw garlic.
RE: SMELL! Garlic breath/garlic sweat.
For the breath, I recommend immediately rinsing your mouth 1-3 times after you consume the garlic, for one. After that drinking coffee also helps. It almost completely removes the garlic breath for me personally.
For garlic sweat, YOURE GOING TO BE PLEASANTLY SURPRISED!!! The antimicrobial properties of garlic, over time, lead to a more pleasant smelling sweat. I can testify that this happened to me; my sweat used to be quite unpleasant but since starting raw garlic (it’s been 4-5 months), the smell of my sweat is almost hard to notice unless I’ve gone through the 7th circle of hell on a special day, but like it’s def not a regular occurrence. Overall my sweat smells way better.
A study describing how garlic made some people’s sweat smell more “attractive”: here.
I’m not going to glaze myself and say my sweat smells attractive (I couldn’t, there is also subjective bias) but people around me can agree: I asked my roommate and she also noticed a difference! It smelled much worse before, I’m not even kidding.
You can google the rest or research in your own time but I hope this helps. I also hooked my family up with garlic and I feel like it’s so good, I hope more people can enjoy it as well.
Ugh the pubmed article makes this post look ugly in thumbnail 😭😭😭 whatever
