The End of Oak Street

Anyone else think EoOS could have started life as a movie set in the Dino Crisis universe? The story at a base level is pretty much DC and even the visual effects of the time bubbles look like the 3rd Energy. Make the dad a laid off scientist who knows about the research and boom you have a DC movie.

Is it just me, or do these two photos have the same energy?

There seems to be an influx of these really obvious solutions in the DIY Reddit and every time I see one I can only hear Kim in my head 😂

The Diner Exterior

I’ve watched the show through so many times and I swear it’s only on this watch through that I’ve noticed the Outside of the Diner occasionally seems to change. Sometimes it has a window on both sides of the door and sometimes it only has one to the left (if you’re stood facing the diner).

I’m guessing this is a ‘real world exterior’ and ‘on set exterior’ mixture thing?

Solo travel: is Self Catering or All Inclusive best for first time?

Hi all.

I just want to seek some opinions. I haven’t been on a good relaxing holiday for quite some time now and I’ve been feeling quite down and out lately due to a combination of things going on in my life. I feel like maybe getting away for a bit and being in my own company would be a good idea to unwind and recharge. But, I’ve never been away on my own before.

I’ve been looking at SC and AI trips and there’s not really much between them in price. I’m finding acceptable holidays within my budget so don’t need help there. But I’m just wondering what would be best board option for my first time alone. I can see merit in both so looking for the views of experienced solo travellers. Similarly, Would you recommend 3/4 nights? Im not sure if 4 would feel too long.

I’m essentially looking to spend some time chilling and reading as well as some exploring. I like to walk/hike, visit historic locations such as ruins/churches/castles etc. I’m thinking of Spain or Greece because I’ve been there before and now I like those countries, so if you have any pointers on places there I’m happy to hear them but I’m open to other options too.

TIA.

Does Bring Your Love Sample/interpolate…

Go Straight from Streets of Rage 2? For those of who who aren’t aware Streets of Rage is a series of games that were released on the Sega Genesis/Mega Drive in the early 90 and are famous for their amazing 16bit 90s house inspired stage music. They were very much a vibe.

I really hear elements similar to ‘Go Straight’ in BYL - but it’s particularly strong during the spoken breakdown at 1.50. Stuart Price would have been in his teens in the early 90s so the right age for this game series to have been applicable to his life and it’s also the same sound M seems to be chasing. It would be an interesting influence if true.

Hi all. I’m in the north west. Last August I left my job to re-enter education to train to become a nurse. Sadly this didn’t work out and I ended up choosing to leave the course as it wasn’t what I should be doing on reflection. I left on the 13th April and have been applying for jobs since, but as we know the market it quite stagnant atm.

I’m thinking of applying for UC while I find something, but I know from working with people in the past that if you choose to leave a job you will get sanctioned because you chose to make yourself jobless. Would this still be the case for me given I left to go into education? I’ve never claimed benefits before so not sure where I’d stand with this and I know from my old job that the Job Centre workers by me aren’t always the most sympathetic people.

TIA for any advice.

I saw a job that I found interesting - a community engagement officer that helps people into work. It’s quite ironic they’re proving a service that helps the unemployed whilst not even paying NLW. The wage is £24,420 which is, AFAIK about 20p an hour below NLW now. It’s a relatively specialist role, demanding experience for not even what you’d get stacking shelves in a supermarket. It’s amazing they can get away with posting jobs like this.

Edit: it’s full time and not an apprenticeship.
