If your life had background music that only you could hear, what moment would have the most dramatic soundtrack?

Skin type: Not sure, never been diagnosed
Skin concerns: Dark spots, uneven tone, discoloration
I've had discoloration on my nose and cheeks for about a year that's gotten darker rather than fading, and recently it's shown up under my eyes too.
Routine: None currently — just regular bar soap on my face.
Sun exposure: Minimal, mostly indoors, occasional outdoor errands with no sunscreen.
I've tried a dermatologist-prescribed cream before with no results, so I'm looking to build a basic OTC routine myself. What products/ingredients have worked for you for discoloration and uneven tone? Also open to recs for a gentler face wash to replace the bar soap.
