I’m from India (Chhattisgarh) and I recently completed Class 12 in the Commerce stream. I’m interested in applying for the MEXT Undergraduate Scholarship 2027 through the embassy route.

I have already gone through the MEXT wiki, subreddit resources, and some embassy information. After doing my research, I still have a few specific questions and would really appreciate advice from applicants or scholars.

My background:

• Class 12 graduate

• Commerce stream

• Average marks in Class 11 and 12

• Beginner in MEXT preparation

• Highly motivated and ready to work seriously for this goal

My questions:

1. Can a Commerce student apply for MEXT Undergraduate through the embassy route, or is it mainly for science students?

2. Which written exam subjects should I prepare for as a Commerce student?

(English / Japanese / Mathematics?)

3. How important are Class 11 and 12 marks during selection?

Can someone with average marks still realistically have a chance?

4. For those who cleared the written exam/interview, what preparation strategy helped you the most?

I understand MEXT is highly competitive, especially in India, so I want to prepare in the smartest and most effective way possible.

Any advice or experience from previous applicants would be greatly appreciated.
