Discomfort around social settings, childlike demeanor, intense hyper focus on small details (he cried after the Motown 25 performance because he felt that he messed up on 1 minor detail lol), etc
Is this a reach ?
His androgyny is one of the most beautiful aspects of him imo so I’m not hating. But it makes me wonder, was he always interested in femininity ? What if he has been wanting to experiment with androgyny his entire life but his parents and hyper religious upbringing made it impossible to do so ?
I notice a lot of his music portrays women in a terrible way, and it makes me wonder about what his true thoughts on women were. I feel like Michael probably had a lot of resentment towards his mother for enabling Joseph’s behavior, she sat there and did nothing to stop him
This could be something that influenced the way he describes women in his music
So many layers and dimensions to this guy lol the film doesn’t even do it justice honestly, I’m glad that this sub was created.
Michael resembled Joseph a lot, imagine waking up every morning and looking at the mirror just to see the very man that physically and emotionally tormented you your entire childhood.
Jermaine was originally supposed to be the lead singer of J5 but he immediately got replaced. Jermaine was never able to live up to the pressures and expectations that Joe wanted his children to live up to
I remember Michael saying that Marlon used to get beat relentlessly because he couldn’t dance as well as Michael could. Being raised in such a competitive environment like that had to have made it painful to watch his younger sibling become a global phenomenon while his own accomplishments received less attention
Michaels work with Quincy is some of the greatest stuff that’s ever been done in the history of music. The fact that he thought he could be as great without Quincy is a major example of his narcissism.
Quincy was known to challenge Michael on a lot of ideas, like for example MJ didn’t want the strings at the beginning of Don’t Stop Til You Get Enough to be on the track but Jones insisted that they stay on it. Michael was more willing to work with people who wouldn’t tell him “no” and as a result his art suffered greatly
