Orion Nebula

This was my first time seeing it and I got a decent photo with my Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra in expert raw astrophoto mode with 3min exposure. Hope you enjoy it as much as I did.

Are DSO's something worth seeing with visual Astronomy

Hi all, I just recently got into astronomy and purchased a Celestron StarSense Explorer DX 130AZ. I can see things like Andromeda Galaxy and Bodes but they just look like small fuzzys with a brighter center. Someone told me maybe a reducer would help. I currently have a 25mm and 10mm that came with the tele. I know I could get better visuals with better eyepieces but I dont want to have more money invested in eyepieces than the scope is worth. I could get an 8" Dob but I'm just curious if these objects ever look better thru a telescope or not really. Would one ever be able to see the spiral structure of Andromeda or does it just become a bigger brighter fuzzy spot.

Processing question

Hi all, I took a couple 10s exposures od Andromeda and wondered if it was worth the effort to see if it would bring out more detail. Its just cellphone images and with only 2 10s exposures I doubt it but figured id ask.

Current Night Sky with my Samsung s21+

The phone did all the iso selection in Night mode. I chose 6sec exposure.

Got a couple of Cassiopeia, one free hand and one propped up. A freehand of the big dippers handle and a freehand and a supported of just straight up in my back yard.

Bortle 4

The darker ones shot at 2000iso and the other ones shot at 1250

Sorry, I guess I wasn't paying attention to the pic being landscape and it not showing the whole thing without clicking on the pic.

Highest Useful Magnification question

The highest useful magnification on my telescope is 307x, if I get an eyepiece and Barlow combo that take me to 325x will this cause visual issues or just won't really make any difference unless I go way over the 307x.

Using a Celestron SS Explorer DX 130.

First picture of the moon, new to hobby

I just got my first telescope about 2 weeks ago now. Its the Celestron 130mm DX StarSense Explorer. I've had it out probably 10 nights in two weeks and although im extremely new to the hobby I've already seen some amazing things that brought a tear to my eye. I live in western NY under probably Bortle 4-5 sky's so pretty decent.

First few outings I would go out early to get the starsense app dialed in and that was nice. It directed me to some kewl first sights like a Double Star and an open cluster, I'll attach pics of the ones I targeted.

Last weekend I was able to see Saturn and it was incredible. So bright. Started off with my 25mm which gave me a 26x view and then I went to the 10mm for a 65x view and I couldn't believe how clear the distinction between the rings and planet were. Couldn't make out the Cassini division but that's okay it was awesome.

I decided to get a nice 3x Barlow and holy smokes what a difference. 78x from the 25mm with better optical relief than the 10mm obviously and then using the 10mm and Barlow for 195x was just nuts. Saturn moved thru the eye piece so darn fast.

I was able to see Venus which had a nice crescent shadow on it. Super kewl to see it at 195x.

Finally the moon out of its new phase was a small crescent and was super fun to look at. It was about a half moon last night and I decided to try and get some pics with my phone. No phone holder yet so this was freehand above the eye piece at 195x. I cant wait to get a phone holder and remote shutter trigger. Im hooked and cant wait to replace the included lenses with some higher quality ones and maybe a couple 2" ones.
