Might be last chance to buy Macross II: Alus Edition

PSA for anyone who may have not caught wind of the Macross II crowdfunded project; looks like production is wrapping up soon so worth looking into if you've enjoyed AnimEigo's other releases (Bubblegum Crisis and Dagger of Kamui are a couple of the nicest anime blus i've seen)

Very excited for this one :)

1.85:1 movies, shot on 35mm film, released as 16:9 - are we always losing image?

Some newer releases of older movies that have an original aspect ratio of 1.85:1 are released as 16:9 (aka 1.78:1). Are these releases typically just chopping off a bit of the left and right? Or is there ever the case of them including *more* top and bottom from the original 35mm film negative? Assuming that negative is 4:3 ratio. e.g. partially "open matte"?

Post-first date with INTJ lady advice: did i just get shot down?

Straight ENFP male here, I just had a nice first date with an INTJ lady.

I *feel* like conversation was good and natural - I do have a couple of close INTJ female friends and my ex of three years was also an INTJ so the vibe felt natural and familiar. We jumped around from how she is new to the city we live in, taking ballet classes, opinions on AI (i work in tech so she was curious), different podcasts and why we like specific hosts, why I like the Great British Bake-off even though i'm not into sweets, her struggles with getting back into baking because her apt's oven isn't up to snuff, how people recall memories differently (unlike others, she tends to not recall specific dates when remembering events), etc etc. TLDR there was a nice depth to the conversation regardless of the different topics we jumped between.

Alas it was getting a tad late and figured 90 mins was plenty on a Wednesday night to wrap up until second date. I offered to walk her home as she had mentioned she lives close to the bar we were at. She said "it's fine i'm close by" and the train station i needed to catch was also v close. Before parting ways at the intersection I gave her a hug and offered "what about dinner sometime? Vietnamese food?" (she mentioned it was a cuisine she enjoyed)

She responds, "Can i think about it for a bit first?"

I respond calmly, "Yeah you can think about it as long as you need"

"I just want to be... intentional"

"Of course. I appreciate the honesty. See ya later"

<end scene>

My gut is telling me that it's probably a polite rejection but I also never had anyone say that to me. Most of the time when something similar plays out they respond at the end of the date "yeah sure!" and then later on the honest rejection comes via text. Just wanted to get other opinions. Worth following up? Or is this one a non-starter?

What do people think of The Story of Yonosuke?

The high rating on Letterboxd is what initially piqued my interest but i feel like the film may not be well known amongst English speakers. Based on the number of Chinese language reviews maybe it fared much better in Asian countries.

Either way, I was pleasantly surprised by this movie. It's very slice of life and kinda crazy that a film full of quirky but all generally likeable characters, and with no real conflict in the plot could sustain a runtime of 2 hours and 40 minutes. But the movie is just so damn charming and subtley packs on some weight towards the end as its message about remembrance/passing connections in life becomes more clear.

How did others feel about the film? /any recs for similar movies?

INTJ women, how do you approach fashion?

Definitely not a very scientific observation but I feel as if the INTJ women i've met tend to have a specific approach to fashion/makeup. i.e. sharp and put-together but never flashy or too out there. Almost never any fancy nails and light on makeup except for a special event (wedding, fancy dinner, etc.) And no flashy tattoos (if any at all??). How accurate is this? Curious to hear directly from INTJ gals here
