Delicious mushrooms
At the beginning of the rainy season, the fields are filled with a huge variety of mushrooms.

References no references. It was done from my imagination.
• Goals The goal was to produce a beautiful painting in the style that I like and that I use. There is no direct inspiration for this work.
• Critique I really want to get feedback on any aspects of the painting, but for some it may be too busy and there may be too much movement, too much variation in colour. The only real goal is: is it working okay, and are there areas I can improve?
Acrylic underpainting with alkyd oil and glazing, 70 x 50 cm canvas on a stretcher. It's an imaginary scene. I have calmed it quite a bit since the previous version and reduced a lot of black marks. I also introduced a river to the left, which was just accidental.

The earlier version on the right is different, but there is a big difference in the photography as well.
As a result of the feedback I received on my previous version of this painting, I have made a number of changes, some not quite in the direction people suggested. I have lost the edge of the left-hand bowl, so it's less dominant, but I still think the eye enters at that point. The focal point for me now is clearly the middle bowl. The bottom right-hand bowl with the fruit has always troubled me, as it is a very strong geometric shape that pulls the eye, so I have tried to lose the top side of that bowl, creating a tonal join into the background behind it. I'm not sure whether these changes are an improvement. Any comments welcome. Thanks.
This is an imaginary flower study, 70 by 20 cm, painted in acrylic with alkyd oil, with extensive glazing. As with most of my paintings, I didn't have a plan. I just felt my way into it and did what the painting told me to. Consequently, it is not realistic. I also wanted rich colours and depth that you can get through multiple coats of glaze, or maybe I made it too dark. I'm not sure. In the photograph, the bowl at the bottom right appears too strong, but in the painting it doesn't have the same effect. That could be a problem with the photograph. I'm not sure.
