Issues With Kato Mikado After Adding Traction Tires

I have a first run Kato Heavy Mikado that I put traction tires on (the ones from Kato) and now it doesn’t run well. It is very jerky, and it stutters a lot. I know that track is clean, as the little steeple cab I have runs fine, and the Mikado used to run great. Any ideas?

Paint options for HO Steam Engines

I recently purchased one of the old Roundhouse 2-8-0 Kits as a project and am looking for advice on painting. I don’t want to do anything complex with it, as it is my first real project locomotive, but does anyone have any paint suggestions for a black paint for the cylinders and a grey/silver for the smokebox?

Mod that Adjusts Contract Descriptions to include GPS Coordinates

I have been watching Splitsie's Survival Improbable, and at some point, I thought I found a link to a mod that changes the descriptions of salvage contracts to make them easier to figure out where they are if you want to buy multiple. Or it was a reddit post. I don't remember. Am I imagining this, or is this a real mod?

Looking for Advice for Signals

I just got my layout to a point where I an content with my track and bench work and want to start looking at signals. For context I have essentially 2 loops, connected with double crossovers, and both loops have some turnouts. I am using Kato Unitrack and one of the loops can switch between DC and DCC. I am look for ideas and advice on what signals to use and the best way to install them. I don’t think I want to do proper blocks at this point, as my layout is not really big enough to justify that, but I would like to make it so all my turnouts have individual signals. What are good signals to buy, and what are good controllers?

I was looking at NCE Switchkats for my turnouts and hooking up the signals to the LED outputs. Is that a thing that works that others have done?

Also, some of the signals I looked at had threads and a nut for installing them. I have foam that is too thick for that, does it would to just glue them in place?

Sorry for the rambling, I really don’t know where to start with this

More Metroliner

I have completed the first passenger car for the 8 wide Metroliner Project. I originally made one using the same length base as the locomotive, because I was trying to keep the theme of the original set, but it looked off, so I made a longer version. I am thinking about doing the long distance cars with the longer base, but keep the intercity cars with the shorter base to match the locomotive.

8 Wide Metroliner - Intercity Dual Cab Locomotive

Follow up to my earlier post, here is the intercity dual cab variant of the metroliner locomotive. I did this one before the passenger cars, as it was quick to throw together, being heavily based on the previous one.

8 Wide Metroliner

Got bored so I designed the first in a set for an 8 wide Metroliner rebuild. Tried to keep the blocky aesthetic, as this is just supposed to be a size up so it fits with modern trains. It has space for Power Up components, and even still has the dining section in the back of the locomotive.

I plan on doing the redesign for the regular passenger car, cab coach, club car, as well as the alternate locomotive, and intercity car.

Installing Plug-ins Questions

I am fairly new to self hosting, and am especially not familiar with the back side of anything. I am trying to install the Navidrome Lyrics Plugin, because I want lyrics, and cannot figure out how to access the folder where I need to out the plugin. I am running Navidrome as an app on TrueNas Scale. Does anyone have a good guide to show how to access the folder to install plugins?

It's A Bumpy Ride

https://preview.redd.it/t2lc5b34jd0h1.png?width=1080&format=png&auto=webp&s=a4b918937225310c32793e33356d5d752a25b1aa

For those of you who have played the latest cozy train game, it's the starting train from A Bumpy Ride. Modeled in Stud.io, it will fit on standard Lego Track, or just look cute on your desk.

If the colors are not super accurate, please forgive me, I am partially colorblind so I am doing my best.

Instructions will be for sale on Rebrickable once I have done the rest of the rolling stock, and done a few color variants.

**Note: This model was not designed for motorization.
