We have a few years of Thankyou Points saved up on our Citi DoubleCash account. Tonight I was dabbling around and figured out that I could pay for our flights for our family of 5 next summer to fly if I opened a new Citi Strata Premier Card for a more effective 1:1 transfer ratio to airline miles and the ongoing 20% Flying Blue transfer bonus.

While my card was instantly approved and shows up in the online Citi portal and my Mobile App, I am currently unable to tie the two accounts together because I do not have the 16 digit card number.

I called customer service and she said she couldn't combine the accounts until I have the physical card and activate it OR wait for an email. However, I am dubious as to this second path because from my research, Citi will not send the 16 digit card number via email. I am also skeptical that I will get another email other than the generic "Congrats you're approved and wait 10 days for your card to show up" I already received.

I have until 8/22 until the 20% Flying Blue bonus ends. Am I out of luck until the physical arrives? Wish I would have started this 5 days ago :(

Any advice or experience with new Citi accounts and tying the points together would be appreciated. Thank you!
