I’m looking to get an A restricted for myself and some colleagues to pull machines at work.

I have called MTO and drive test and it is still super unclear.

I know I need a medical check, vision test, can’t use air breaks and the general procedure.

What I don’t know is that since I can’t use air breaks or operate a full size tractor trailer, will I still be questioned on these things in the knowledge test? We drive cab over Hino trucks and smaller floats with pintle hitches so we won’t be knowledgeable on these things.

Also for the road test I got conflicting answers from MTO and drive test regarding what I need to drive for the test. Do I take just my Hino down? Empty trailer? Trailer with a load over 4600kg?? The last is what the person at drive test said.

If anyone has gone through this process recently or knows about it and can help clear things up that would be greatly appreciated.
