My brother and I are starting a new dark ambient project called Ashen Light. Last week we released our first track - an epic 40 minute adventure of Matriarch, DFAM, and other "stuff." This whole piece is a live recorded improvisation. Join us on this journey of exploring the ruins of an ancient alien civilization under an ocean on another planet!
Isn’t it annoying and aggravating when you find out about local events AFTER they happen? That seems to happen all the time now. The giant social media algorithms are stacked against us. Do you remember when we could look at a local newspaper and look to see what’s happening on a particular night? Maybe I’m showing my age here.. Try using [insert social media giant here] events app to find actual local events this weekend – it’s MADDENING. Wouldn’t it be nice if you could use an app that shows anything from DIY punk shows to local church bake sales – ANYTHING (legal) – in a given timeframe for a given place? I always wanted to address this, and so I took a stab at it. There’s a new website that aggregates local events by date, location, and category and lets you filter how you want. Right now, it’s only active for the upstate of South Carolina – theoretically, this could work anywhere. Best of all, it’s FREE. Seriously. You can browse events on the site for free any time. You don’t need to create an account or log in to browse for events. AND you can post events for free if you create an account – up to three per month. So, check it out! Get BUSY!!
As the title suggests, my wife and I will be driving from Marseilles to Paris in late September and would like to break the trip up by stopping in two places for the night along the way. Any suggestions for two towns to explore along the way to experience the culture, food, and wine? Extra points for particular wineries, restaraunts, and hotels to visit. Thanks!
Trying to help a friend here - as title suggests. He's in his early forties, and feels stuck at a middle-management retail sales postion and wants out! He has no formal degree, but decades of work experience (including some IT support work 10+ years ago), no medical issues, no transportation issues, and is well-spoken and personable. Lives in Easley, but open to work with any reasonable commute. Any ideas from the local hive? Besides the obvious (BMW, Prisma, etc.), who's hiring and what positions could be a good fit for him?
My wife and I are taking our first trip to France mid-September of this year and looking for any feedback or advice on itinerary and things to know along the way. We’re taking an approximately10-day trip and flying roundtrip from USA to Paris. My rough itinerary concept is:
First 3 nights in Paris
Train to Lyon, and spend 3 nights there
Car or train to Marseilles, and spend 2 nights there
Train to Paris to spend last night there before morning flight back to USA
Of course, we wish we could spend more time in any one of these places. We want to see Paris (of course), some views of the Alps, some views of the Mediterranean and thought this could be a way to do all of that. I’ve always been fascinated by Marseilles in that it’s such a melting pot of culture!
We like to think of ourselves as adventurous travelers and tend to seek out more “bohemian” neighborhoods to explore. We like art, music, and restaurants where locals like to eat. We prefer to stay in Airbnb-type rentals as opposed to hotels, to get a feel for what it’s like to live in a place.
Any thoughts on the itinerary in general?
Any suggestions on neighborhoods we should focus on for rentals? How about any secret / favorite spots in those neighborhoods?
Thanks so much!
