how do i say no to friend who invited herself over to stay?

I have a friend who I love but I find draining. I intentionally place boundaries around seeing her because I find I have to recharge more than usual after being with her for an extended period of time.

She recently moved away and is planning a visit to my city. I sensed when we were discussing her visit she was expecting an invite to stay over and I didn't extend it. She then asked me point blank if she can stay over and I felt put on the spot and I agreed under the pressure.

Nothing has been set in stone or dates set, so I don't think saying 'actually, I can't host', would be a big deal, but I would feel bad since she's hosted me in the past when she lived locally.

I'm not sure what to do or what to say. I just know that the idea of hosting her even overnight feels draining and anxiety inducing for me.

I’m a Model- Valerie Claire

Had this- the 12’ 6 minute long on repeat along with her follow up single ‘Shoot Me Gino’ on repeat.

Anyone know anything about her? Not finding a whole lot online.

She has a fantastic voice and the topics of both singles are so fun and campy.

Love that there’s always new things to discover with Italo Disco.

Anyone else heard this too? It was included on the Disco Discharge compilation album, I think Gay Disco & Hi NRG edition.

People who have ditched streaming for listening to music they own- what are your long-term experiences?

I've had Spotify for about 10 years, and have built up a system that really works for me in terms of discovering new music, keeping music fresh and effectively keeping a digital diary through monthly and yearly playlists.

But lately I've been feeling nostalgic for the time pre-streaming, which in the grand scheme of things wasn't that long ago as I was still buying most of my music up to about 2015. I miss the experience of having to go out and buy an album, and then appreciating it more because you had to put effort into acquiring it and then burning it and syncing it to your mp3 library. I still remember pretty much every album I bought when I was a young teenager, mostly because I had nothing else to listen to and would spend more time with each piece of music by default.

I find myself overstimulated by apps like Spotify. The sheer amount of choice and possibilities you can access instantly makes the listening experience of most things feel quite cheap. I can't really make it through an album without feeling itchy, like I should be listening to or exploring something else. You can call this an attention issue but I feel it definitely has something to do with the nature of an infinite library of music and the design of the app itself.

I'm thinking of running an experiment where I unsubscribe from streaming for a bit and see how my listening habits change when I'm forced to acquire my own music. I know it's not a black and white process, and I see people for the large part doing a combination of streaming for discovery and owning their music for appreciation.

I've seen a lot of people over the last couple of years talking about ditching streaming and going back to collecting physical music, whether that's CDs or digital files, but I'd like to hear from people who have been doing this long-term? And how has this changed your listening habits?

Fights we didn’t see in BB6?

In the final week of BB6, the housemates are asked to put on the Big Brother play where they have to reenact things that happened in the house.

Mostly it was shown that the housemates reenacted arguments and rows. Two particular scenes stuck out to me:

  1. Craig and I think Makosi reenact an argument that happened between Craig and Vanessa. The crux of the argument is that Craig is telling Vanessa that he and Lesley didn’t consider Vanessa part of Team Britney and that Lesley never liked Vanessa. From the reenactment it seemed like an explosive argument that I don’t remember seeing. It also stands out as the only significant arguments Vanessa was ever shown to have got into was between her and Saskia. Also, the friendship breakup between Vanessa and Craig was shown as a gradual distancing where they both gradually assimilated into two separate camps, and not something where a row might have been involved. I’m surprised this one was never shown?

  2. Kinga and Eugene reenact a scene from the Secret Garden, between Kinga and Orlaith. Orlaith is basically having a go at Kinga about her noise and Kinga is saying ‘you’re always picking on me’. Again, I don’t remember seeing this incident either, and it seemed like quite a big conflict.

It made me wonder how many other arguments or bigger moments we never saw on the highlights show.

Has anyone else caught this? Does anyone remember these bits from the livestreams?

Removing green ear with 100% acetone?

Received this beautiful platinum bubblecut head today and this is my first time dealing with green ear (and my first bubblecut!)

As I was researching how to fix green ear people were saying to clean the area with rubbing alcohol first, so I cleaned with what I had which was 100% acetone, not expecting any major results as all the videos I’ve watched of Barbie restorations have rarely used acetone to treat green ear.

To my surprise, acetone did remove the majority of the green ear!

There’s still some left, especially on the left side, so I’m going to find the UK equivalent of CLR to soak her ears with that for a while, but I’m quite shocked how well just acetone worked.

I’ve done some research online briefly to see any mention of acetone working, and I can’t see anything else so thought it was worthwhile to document it and see if anyone else has gotten similar results using it.
