Car followed wife home

My wife and I just moved to a new area. While I was at work, a car followed her beginning in our neighborhood all the way to the house; even going as far as to stick the nose of the car into our driveway (she was parked in garage but didn’t get out). It finally left after a few minutes.

I wasn’t there, I don’t know if there was any type of context behind this, as in if they live near us, or he was coincidentally just sitting on his phone, but the driveway thing concerns me. I advised her that if she sees the car lingering around again, to get the plate number and call the non emergency police line.

Anyone else have this happen? What should we do?

2016 Corolla overheating scare

I have a 2016 Corolla, 1.8 4 cyl, with 160k miles on it. Radiator fan was just replaced.
I was idling in the drive through when I noticed that my engine heat went almost all the way up. The check engine light never turned on. It dropped down to about 3/4 and went back up.

I pulled to a safe place and checked for a leak, there wasn’t one, and the radiator fan was running. Once I started driving, it went back down to its normal temp (halfway).

I drove it again this morning when the engine was cold and the fluid is where it should be.

Was this just likely a scare or something I should be concerned about?

Reimbursable expenses

I have a question for married folks here who have lived at the Parks,

My spouse and I are moving into the parks very shortly, but will be without furniture for 2-3 weeks as it is getting shipped across country.
If we choose to stay in the on-base hotel in the meantime, is that reimbursable, or would they say that it’s not because we are in possession of a home? And if it is reimbursable, all we need to do is just save receipts and submit through SmartVoucher?

Batman and Robin had an Altercation

This is a story that I never see talked about. If this was done with care in a film or other form of media, I think it would have the potential to be one of Kings most moving works. Lunch at the Gotham Cafe sticks out in the same vein also.

Is there any fellow love for these?

(Since AI isn’t educated apparently, to be clear, this is relating to the STEPHEN KING stories.)

How would FMJ be seen had Lee Ermey not been in it?

I’ve been pondering Kubricks filmography, and particularly his last three films.

I just rewatched FMJ, and while the second half is stronger than many give it credit for, I don’t think we can deny that the main reason for FMJ’s popularity is R Lee Ermey.

Had Kubrick not gotten ‘lucky’ with him, it’s very possible that his late career is thought of in a different, more ‘meh’ light. I personally like EWS the most, but many don’t feel that way.

Promoting early

For Army Junior Enlisted specifically,

Did any of you have the opportunity to promote early while at DLI. I am an E2, and am looking for opportunities to pick up E3 as quickly as I can (without jeopardizing my schooling).

What needs to be done in order to achieve this? High PT scores, academic performance, volunteering, or does it not typically happen since the focus is primarily on academics, ie not being around the drill sergeants for most of the day?

BCT Now VS Then

I (25M) just graduated from Sill. I found that while certain things were challenging, being older was very helpful because you can identify the mind games, stressors, and objectives when the young kids can’t. Those of us that had civilian jobs before joining were much more emotionally and mentally equipped.

Something that I found interesting was hearing the drills constantly bemoaning how basic has changed from when they were in, as in time to eat going drastically up, limits on corrective action, uninterrupted sleep, etc..

For those of you that joined a while ago, how much of this is factual vs the classic “back in my day” talk? How much has the Army/TRADOC really changed over the years?
