Using Claude Code to find "new" lesser known lectures - you probably have not heard some of these

AI rocks.

Claude Code finding gaps in Uutter TM archive

For some context: I've been running Asktmk/Uutter for some time now. Part of the reason why I moved away from Asktmk to Uutter was to take advantage of AI powered transcription.

On Asktmk it used to take weeks if not months to gather enough people interested in possibly helping out with transcribing. And while a lot of people did help it still took too long and the idea of having everything Terence McKenna ever said on tape searchable seemed like it would never be accomplished.

Even archival stuff - Ageees. "Oh this talk seems new, when and where was this talk recorded?"... The rabbit holes I've been down just to figure out the date of a recording has consumed so much of my time but on the plus side it can also lead to discovery.

The human capacity for this is just very limited.. Unless there's an organisation or company behind it with economic incentive it's very rare for enough individuals to band together behind something and make a significant impact. There are exceptions ofc..

Anyway, I've been using AI a lot in my workflows. And along with being able to transcribe stuff on the fly is archival work. Instead of me spending hours searching and looking through links and trying to find leads on something, I'll just tell the AI to do it.

And so here are the results:

~31 hours of new material in a couple of hours. Highlights:

Also finally dated the "lost" Daryl Gates KFI interview, and correctly retitled a 5½-hour Esalen workshop that's been circulating under the wrong name for years — it's Eros, Chaos & Meaning's Edge.

That puts the collection at 338 entries, ~600 hours — all transcribed and searchable.

Total words transcribed: 4,500,378
Total non-stop listening duration: 24d 20h 16m 32s

Copyright takedown notice from "Love Serve Remember Foundation"

I run a site called Uutter, there a collection exists for Ram Dass where there's about a million words transcribed from around 100 of his talks. It's freely accessible so people can search over those talks and read the transcripts. I don't make any money on this, it actually costs me 200-300$ a month to host Uutter.

I got the following notification this morning:

"Remove Your Media LLC is the authorized agent for Vermillio, LLC and on behalf of the Love Serve Remember Foundation ("LSRF"), which owns or controls the

copyrights in the recorded talks, lectures, and teachings of Ram Dass (Richard Alpert) (the "Works").

We have a good-faith belief that the website uutter.com, which appears to be hosted on AWS infrastructure, is publicly hosting complete, unauthorized audio/video recordings and full-length transcripts of the Works without LSRF's authorization, through the collection located at:

https://uutter.com/c/ram-dass

This collection contains over 100 individual pages, each reproducing a complete Ram Dass talk or interview in full, not brief excerpts.

Representative examples include:

https://uutter.com/c/ram-dass/17029ab7-6c3d-486e-97ce-9c8adb804f05

This use is not authorized by LSRF, its agent, or the law.

We request that AWS expeditiously remove or disable access to the infringing material, or contact its customer to do so.

I have a good-faith belief that use of the material in the manner complained of is not authorized by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law.

I state, under penalty of perjury, that the information in this notification is accurate, and that I am authorized to act on behalf of the owner of the exclusive rights allegedly infringed.

I have two days to remove the collection. I find it pretty amusing and it says a lot about where the foundations priorities are. That collection barely even gets a hundred views a month but here they are coming after me for trying to spread his work and make it accessible to those with hearing loss.

Greedy individuals who do more harm than good, they make all that money off his work and can barely even put together a proper archive of Ram Dass' work.

Norwegian Lab: Abonnementsfellen som har lurt 600.000+ kunder — alt du trenger å vite

Norwegian Lab (norwegianlab.com) is a Norwegian "supplement" company that's been operating a textbook subscription trap since 2019. Here's how it works:

  1. They advertise a cheap "trial pack" with "no binding period"

  2. The checkout page HIDES the fact that you're signing up for an expensive subscription

  3. Weeks later, more products arrive unsolicited with a ~$110 invoice

  4. If you don't pay, they escalate to debt collection to intimidate you

This isn't speculation. Forbruker Europa (EU consumer protection agency) has issued an official warning. The Danish Consumer Ombudsman has received multiple complaints. Two Norwegian newspapers (Finansavisen and Dagens Næringsliv) covered this in November 2025.

The company made $33 million in 2024 revenue from this model. They're owned by Eltek Holding (eltekholding.com), which describes itself as a "technology investment company" — hardly a supplement business.

I've compiled all the evidence, ownership info, and step-by-step guides for getting refunds at: https://norwegianlab-scam.com

If you or someone you know got caught in this, DO NOT PAY the debt collection notices. Dispute in writing. File a chargeback. Report to Forbrukertilsynet.

Tracking double digits in the time like 11:11

Got into this weird situation where I was taking screenshots when the time on my phone was showing double digits.. 12:12, 14:14 etc.. Had thousands of screenshots over the years.

But I wanted a better way to keep track of this. What numbers was I seeing most often? Which days did it occur most on?

I think we humans have always looked for signs and meaning into things. I don't know what it means or if it means anything at all (most probably doesn't lol).

Anyway thought I would share. It's completely free and no ads, no catches - just for fun.

The project is a monorepo with Nextjs and React Native/Expo on Supabase.

Added 55 Terence McKenna talks from Psychedelic Salon that weren't in the Uutter archive

Spent some time going through Lorenzo Hagerty's Psychedelic Salon catalog and pulling out every Terence talk that wasn't already in the McKenna collection on Uutter. Found 55 that were missing.

We're now at:

Total transcribed words: 4,283,647

Total listening duration: 23d 12h 46m 51s

All of them are now up with:

  • Lorenzo's intro/outro removed (just the Terence content + any audience Q&A)
  • Full searchable transcripts
  • Download links

A few highlights from what got added:

  • We Are Descendents of Stoned Apes
  • New and Old Maps of Hyperspace
  • Death By Astonishment
  • Plants That Talk
  • Hacking Reality
  • The Extraterrestrials Are Here!
  • McKenna: Hermeticism and Alchemy Part 4
  • In the Valley of Novelty (Part 6)
  • Terence McKenna on Art Bell Part 2

Browse / search them all: https://uutter.com/c/terence-mckenna

Full credit to Lorenzo Hagerty — none of this content would be in the public record without his decades of archiving through the Psychedelic Salon podcast.

Hello!

I've spent the last few years building what I'm trying to make the most complete searchable Alan Watts archive that exists publicly: https://uutter.com/c/alan-watts — currently 296 entries, every transcript searchable, all the major series cross-referenced (alanwatts.com canon, Pacifica Radio Archives KPFA broadcasts BB0527/BB0528, Eastern Wisdom and Modern Life KQED-TV, curated releases, etc.).

After really exhaustive searching — every torrent I could get, archive.org collections, YouTube rips, blog posts, Wayback Machine, Discogs, the WFMU community archive, the Kurt von Meier AUM archive, the iHeart podcast — there are a handful of recordings I still cannot get. Some need community help. Others need money.

### Why this matters now

The recordings are physically aging. Magnetic tape from the 60s deteriorates; old fan-blog Mediafire/Drive links rot every year; YouTube rips of rare LPs get DMCA'd by the rights-holders' enforcement contractor (I watched one disappear during this research). The MEA / Electronic University / wattstapes.com label that Henry Jacobs ran out of his Mill Valley house has effectively been wound down — the IMPREC054 *Fine Art of Goofing Off* CD that restored Henry Jacobs's collaborations with Watts (literally rescued from tapes found under his floorboards) is now SOLD OUT on Important Records. Each year these become harder, sometimes impossible, to find.

### A frustration I'll just say out loud

The Alan Watts Foundation has done a strikingly poor job of archiving its own subject. They sell curated bundles (the "Remastered Audio Series" boxes on alanwatts.com) but don't expose a comprehensive catalog. There's no public bibliography. Recording dates and venues aren't preserved as structured metadata anywhere they publish. Pacifica catalog references aren't surfaced. Sibling lectures (the BB1335 series — *Game Theory of Ethics* is freely available, but *Metaphysics and Morals* the companion talk isn't) are split across paid/free silos for no clear reason. And meanwhile they're actively DMCA'ing YouTube uploads of the underlying material, which suppresses the community efforts that have actually been keeping this stuff alive. I genuinely respect what Mark Watts has done with the *Being in the Way* podcast — that's been a real preservation contribution — but the broader institutional effort feels embarrassingly thin for someone of Alan Watts's stature and how much of his philosophy was about freely sharing.

### The specific asks

**Two KPFA broadcasts that look paywalled-only at Pacifica Radio Archives:**

  1. **Metaphysics and Morals** — Pacifica catalog **BB1335.01**, KPFA 24 April – 12 May 1966, ~54 min. Distinct from his "Mysticism and Morals" (BB4189) which I have. Companion lecture *Game Theory of Ethics* (BB1335.02) is free on the iHeart Alan Watts Archive podcast, but BB1335.01 is held back.
  2. **Stop Now** (part of "Three Against Destruction: Can We Survive 1999?") — Pacifica catalog **BB2265.01**, KPFA 1 December 1969 – 1 January 1970, ~13 min. Watts's contribution to a 3-part anthology with John Letiche and George Bergstrom. Mark Watts's podcast has covered ~75% of the catalog but not this.

If anyone has these recordings are in the US and can order one or both from Pacifica directly (international ordering is a hassle and licensing is friendlier domestically), I'll reimburse the full cost upfront via PayPal/Venmo/Wise plus a thank-you for the trouble. Once I have audio, the talks go into the public archive — so you're making them freely searchable for everyone.

Pacifica's order page is at pacificaradioarchives.org (search the BB# directly). Estimates from comparable Pacifica licenses put each at ~$30–60 USD.

**Henry Jacobs / Important Records titles that include Watts:**

- IMPREC054 *The Weird Wide World of Henry Jacobs / The Fine Art of Goofing Off* — sold out, but if anyone has a copy or a rip, this contains the only restored versions of Jacobs's "Philosophizing"-era conversations with Watts that I'm aware of

- IMPREC299 *Around the World With Henry Jacobs* — $12.99, still in print at importantrecords.com, "Alan Watts returning for a visit, too"

If you own either, please get in touch — even a tracklist with timestamps for the Watts segments would be useful.

**Other long-tail items I'm still hunting** (DM if you have leads):

- alanwatts.com canon: **Interdependent Origination** (Way Beyond Seeking series), **Zen in the West** (Eastern and Western Zen), **Philosophy of the Tao Pts 3 & 4** (Tao for Now)

- Full **Reality, Art & Illusion** (4-cassette MEA seminar; only Pt 1 and Pt 3 surface online)

- Any unauthorized rip of original MEA-label cassettes that hasn't already been re-released by Mark Watts

Comment or DM if you can help with any of this. The goal is making the bibliography complete and freely accessible before too many of these recordings rot or fall behind paywalls permanently.

Thanks 🙏
