Update on my $20 goodwill find from a couple weeks ago. My foams from Rick Cobb showed up in just a few days as usual but the caps took a while so during the wait I re foamed the drivers and freshened the cabinets, the drivers were the easiest to re foam ever took a couple hours at most the glue that was used on them was easy to remove and the cones are quite tough this made for quick removal of the old foam I used the tone CD for voice coil alignment and I’m pretty pleased with the results, just as everyone commented on my last post these EPIs sound quite nice good bass and wonderful highs the tweeter is definitely the star of the show here.

Found this in a book, is it special? I see the ink line that goes vertical but it doesn’t look like a printing error looks like something happened after printing

Was just looking at some EPI speakers here on Reddit last night never heard of them spent a good 30min researching them, and now 15hrs later I hit the Goodwill at lunch and scored these damn near mint 100s for $20 (charged me $10 a piece, pretty sure it was 10 for the pair but the store was busy I wasn’t arguing)

Bought a stereo cabinet and the owner made me take his tape collection, a variety of brands the basf and sears I’ve never seen I’ve got about 30 of the realistic only 5 the Maxwell guy was into recording for sure

Looking for insight and help with my repair, I ordered some belts for my 660 in my anticipation of getting the belts I’ve taken it apart and cleaned the flywheels and now I noticed the cassette door is not functioning it won’t open the eject lever is hitting what looks to be a safety so the tape can’t be eject while playing, I had the same problem when I got it, door wouldn’t open but after moving the capstan a few clicks the eject was free to open now after re installing the wheels the gate has slid back into its locked position not allowing the eject to work, my question is when the belts get put back on and it’s powered is that gate going to be fixed and working or do I have an issue with it and how to I engage the gears manually to get that gate to slide out of the way so I can close the door it’s currently open and wi

Ordered some belts for my 660 in anticipation of getting the belts I cleaned the flywheels and now I noticed the door is not functioning it won’t open, can’t really see in there but it looks like the catch is releasing, heads are released I turned the the flywheel a few times until the clicking stoped and something released, what gives have no idea what to even look at the door is stuck any ideas would be helpful

Didn’t know Aiwa made nice stuff, needs a couple belts bought it for $45 haven’t decided if I’m going to save it or not anyone recommend this as a good deck thoughts?
