In the heat of things here in PHX metropolitan, chasing panfish and bass this morning. Started with my 4wt using a popper dropper, then decided to test out my new euro setup because why not? Hooked up on a nice bluegill (last pic), ready to try it at the river!

Had a catfish break me off yesterday at the bank on this setup off a panther martin streamer, my knot slipped! Got these two today on a 2.8 bellows gill on EWG ned jig

What to throw
At the pond I fish I notice some large bass come up to the shore or underwater structure and seemingly just chase fish off. Im guessing they are guarding a bed or fry? What would you throw if you see this behavior? There is one in particular I cannot get to bite and he’s always hanging out in this area and will chase fish but I never see him eat them. I’ve seen a few others exhibit similar behavior but I’ve caught a couple of those. I’m in AZ if that matters. I am not getting skunked but I really want to target larger ones this summer and I’m pretty much self taught for all fishing and have tried most the go to lures and new ones, even some flies, but can’t figure this situation out!
