I was expecting more from D. Dove

After literal years of posting to this sub's weekly erotica requests thread for a very specific kink, I finally bit the bullet purchased {Under Control} from D. Dove's website. It's rated a "6" on their 6-dove scale for graphic themes, so I was kind of expecting... worse? ...than what was on the page.

It's a short story about a gay high school coach in a struggling marriage >!getting gang raped by students while he's stuck in a window!<. On paper, that sure sounds dark and awful. But within the actual page, it was strangely... mild. And somehow had a happy ending.

Maybe that's more a judgement on me than on the author. Perhaps I've spent way too much time in yaoi/BL land where these acts get way more graphic and inventive. But when I initially heard this was a 6 out of 6 on "dead dove, don't eat" scale, I actually stayed away from the story because I thought it would be too graphic.

So I wanted to report back here to say: this 6-dove story read like a 4-dove to me. It wasn't nearly as bad as I thought it would get after all that anti-hype. The short story well written at the technical level, the sex acts described (oral, anal, humiliation, blackmail, penetration with an object) are spicy without being, like, splatterpunk.

I'd rate it a 4 out of 5 stars, knocking one off for the coach getting unstuck* about 50% through the story.

(That was the kink - "stuck in a wall," or "kabeshiri." Still waiting on any other rec in those weekly threads along with the nine other people who keep upvoting the request!)

Tapping out (allodynia)

Maybe not a popular post here, but a necessary one for anybody else struggling with this side effect.

Started Wegovy back in March with injections. Tolerated it well, only mild nausea and headaches at the beginning. Lost 5lbs and was feeling pretty good, but didn't like sticking myself with a needle.

In June, I switched the pill. Started on the lowest possible dose, so the effects were weaker. Gained back 3lbs during the adjustment but I blame that on being too sick to go to the gym for 3 weeks with a respiratory illness.

Now, out of nowhere, my skin feels like one giant sunburn. It's on my back, my legs, my arms, my ears... No hives, redness, or any of the life-threatening symptoms (e.g. difficulty breathing). Just a constant knives-on-skin burning sensation.

And I am still only a net 2lbs down from my starting weight.

So my journey with GLP-1s ends here. I liked having a reduction in food noise, but the juice isn't worth the squeeze with so little weight lost.

Mixed feelings on Metal Lavender

On my skin, I love it. Fresh, crisp, doesn't give me that "elderly" powdery scent other lavender perfumes do.

But on clothes and in rooms where I spritz, this dries down to a sharp, antiseptic smell. My husband says the bathroom smells like a hospital 💔

Disturbed guy cussing out kids

Heads up: At 11am today a gray-haired white/Hispanic guy in a green hoodie and khaki pants rolled up to Franklin Park on a black bicycle.

He started taking pictures of children at a school picnic and cursing the BIPOC kids out with racial slurs. When asked to leave, he got belligerent, threatening to fight.

Called Alameda PD and the guy took off wearing a blue backpack with a towel rolled up over the back. Green and white tennis shoes. Green-blue eyes, tan skin. Weirdly clean, didn't seem homeless.

Be on the lookout. Call it in if you see this creep anywhere near a playground.

Favorite personal trainers?

I'm hitting a wall with my fitness goals (lift heavy, do first-ever pull-up). I'm trying to find a local PT who makes house visits to train lazy middle aged married couples. Does anyone here work with anybody they like who isn't creepy, pushing MLM shakes, or crazy-focused on HIIT workouts?
