U.S. buyers: Have you ever paid customs fees on records shipped from Australia, Canada, or the UK (outside eBay International Shipping)?
I'm hoping to hear from U.S. buyers who have purchased vinyl records from Australia, Canada, or the UK.
Specifically, if the seller didn't use eBay International Shipping (formerly Global Shipping Program) and instead shipped directly through their local postal service, did you ever have to pay U.S. customs duties or import fees when the package arrived?
I've noticed that eBay International Shipping can be incredibly expensive—often $30–45 just for shipping a single LP—while sellers offering standard international shipping can sometimes ship the same record for less than half that amount.
From what I've been able to find, vinyl records appear to fall under HTS classifications that are generally duty-free. If that's correct, I'm wondering whether the extra cost of eBay International Shipping is mostly for handling and convenience rather than avoiding customs charges.
Thanks in advance! I'm trying to decide whether it's worth avoiding eBay International Shipping whenever a seller offers standard shipping instead. Real-world experiences would be greatly appreciated!

One of my Beatles vinyl holy grails!!
Just picked up a Beatles Sgt. Pepper's first UK pressing COMPLETE with pristine original inner sleeve and cutouts. Jacket is in VG+ condition and of course has the backflip and fully laminated. Vinyl has -1/-1 matrices with a mother/stamper of 2/P on side 1 and 1/GG on side 2! I'm really stoked!!

Currently giving my setup a workout with this absolute beauty: a UK stereo pressing of Sgt. Pepper’s from around 1971–1972.
Even though it’s from the early '70s transition era and dropped the classic 1960s "flipback" tabs on the inside of the gatefold cover, EMI still gave it that fully laminated, ultra-glossy jacket treatment. Honestly, the way the light catches a fully laminated gatefold just makes modern reissues look a bit dull by comparison.
Jacket aesthetics aside, the real star of the show is the deadwax. There is nothing—and I mean nothing—quite like the sonic warmth of a vintage UK Beatles pressing. The clarity, the deep bass punch, and that crisp stereo soundstage... it honestly feels like sitting in Abbey Road Studio 2 with the boys.
Anyone else prefer these early '70s UK pressings over the original '67 first states? Let me know what you're spinning today!

Time to upgrade my Ortofon OM10 stylus to ??
I have a George Harrison Pro-Ject turntable that has served me well over the last year since I got it out of storage. Bought new about 8 years ago and has been used sparingly. My current set up is a Harman Kardon 330C receiver paired with an awesome set of Mission 770 speakers. That said, I'm wondering if I could upgrade the sonics on my turntable by upgrading the Ortofon OM10 cartridge??
I'd like to keep my budget between $150-$200.
Any recommendations will be greately appreciated!
