The bad decision not to include “Deep In My Heart” on the U.S. version of "...Baby One More Time"

I’m Britney’s number one fan. Her first four albums defined my childhood. *...Baby One More Time* is special because it was the first one.

Imagine my surprise when, years later, I discovered that "Deep In My Heart" wasn't included on the US version! I was obsessed with that song throughout my childhood, and I can't believe Americans didn't even know it existed. Yes, I know it was included later on the "Oops" single or on compilations, but that really only reaches the die-hard fans. Out of the millions of Americans who bought the album, I can't believe they didn't hear this song when listening to the record.

I know these were record label decisions back then, but there are plenty of worse songs on the album that could have been cut for the US release.

I watched "Spice Girls in America: A Tour Story" today, and I found it really sad

I watched "Spice Girls in America: A Tour Story" today, and honestly, I found it really sad. They come across as totally dispirited and unhappy, as if they were only there out of obligation. In many interviews from that era, they always used to say that conquering the US was every British artist's dream. Yet, all I see are four sad, homesick girls longing to return to England.

Mel B complains about having to fly to every city, Emma cries because she wants to go home for a family barbecue, and Victoria and Mel C say they are counting down the days until the tour ends. They look unhappy and lack any spark, both when speaking and when working. Honestly, they don't even seem particularly close at that point; they look like mere colleagues. The spark and the bond they displayed in the "One Hour of Girl Power" documentary are gone.

For those who have seen the documentary: do you feel the same way?

Hello Britney's fans in the UK. I have a some questions for you.

I've been looking at Britney's UK sales and I'm surprised to learn that she hasn't had a best-selling album there. Her highest-selling album is ...Baby One More Time with "only" 1.2 million copies (4x platinum). All the artists of her generation, like Christina Aguilera, Avril Lavigne, Pink, Rihanna, Beyonce or Lady Gaga, have at least one album with 1.8-2.0 million copies sold, and Britney doesn't.

Was Britney really a success in the UK? I know her singles charted very well. But was Britney truly a musical phenomenon in the UK? Does she have a large fanbase? Was she musically very famous there? Did she have massive success like in the US? Is she well-known there for her music?

Thanks!

"If" is my favorite Janet song, and it doesn't get the recognition it deserves. It's a perfect pop song. An amazing melody, sensual lyrics, and excellent choreography.

Am I the only one who loves "If"?

I've listened Sweat and I think it's fantastic. I think it's their best album since Northern Star. Although Melanie C (2020) was also quite good. I listened to her entire discography last month and I think Melanie C has an admirable career. Some albums are better than others, but she deserves much more success than she's had.

I find it incredibly unfair that the UK turned its back on him after Reason (2003) for being a former Spice Girl. Both the public, the press and the record label. My goodness! In those years, countries like Germany and Spain supported his music much more than the UK. I think if she'd had the right support and promotion, she'd be a huge star in the UK! She and her music deserve it. Also, I admire Melanie C for being the only Spice Girl still releasing music and performing concerts. She has money and doesn't need to work, so she does it out of passion.

Prue was the most powerful witch. The eldest sister. The one responsible for everything going right. That was the problem. Prue was too much of a protagonist in the first three seasons. The show felt like "Prue and her sisters". I loved her character but from season 4 onward, all three sisters were equally central. The problem wans't Prue's personallity. It was that she was too much of a protagonist. Almost every monster of the week storyline revolved around her.

This was evident in season 1 where Prue was the absolute protagonist. Or in season 3 where Prue was so powerful and self assured that she didn't need her sisters.

What do you think?
