Brave randomly reloading video after a few minutes of playing in the background, since today.

Is anyone else experiencing this? Since today, when I am playing some video in the background, suddenly I notice that the sound has stopped and then I go back to the Brave window and instantly the page reloads and goes back to the start of the video.

Recently I had experienced other weird issues (sometimes videos going into an infinite loading loop after around four minutes and a half of playing, which is weirdly precise), but this latest problem is far more annoying.

I am using Brave 1.90.125 on Android 16 and my phone is an Oppo Reno 14

Case study of just how wrong and broken something can be (from a software developer)

I have been left 32 traveler references.

Both on the app and on the web my count of traveler references is 31.

On the web, if I scroll (by the way, there is no scroll bar) I see 31 references. My most recent one is missing, even though I actually received an email today notifying me of that latest reference. If I click on the email link in order to read the reference, it's not there. It isn't anywhere, in fact.

On the app, if I scroll I see 30 references. Including a wrong one automatically generated by the system a few weeks ago and not by the person, whose request I never accepted and who never stayed with me and who never left me a reference. So in other words, on the app, I simultaneously have one too many, and three too few (one is the most recent one, and the other two are old ones).

Also on the app, if I filter by 'traveler', the wrong reference which is categorized as a traveler reference disappears. I thought about counting whether then I would see 29 references, but as I scroll down the filter breaks and all of a sudden I see all references mixed again, even though only 'traveler' is selected. Then, if I select all checkboxes in the filter again, the wrong reference briefly appears and disappears. It's gone. But of course if I leave the page and enter again, it comes back.

I am a software developer and I swear that never in my life I have seen anything like this. It is completely and utterly incomprehensible how broken this thing is.

What is it with the calls?

I live in Spain and I'm writing this from the doctor's office. I just got a bunch of international calls from Outlier, only this time every time I hung up I would get another call instantaneously. I had to hang up four times in like thirty seconds, until I could finally just block the number.

What is this? I had read somewhere that some AI agent might call me, but what for, and why on Earth would you make it so that the person keeps having to hang up again and again? WTF?

Just how mindbogglingly broken is this stupid app?

The other day I wrote a post about weird things I was experiencing with references. Among other things, 77 out of my 135 references were missing, and today I have realized that I can see them on the website but not on the app.

Now, I wanted to leave a reference to someone who just stayed with me, he left this morning.

In the website, he has completely vanished from anything that I can see anywhere. He's not among guests, present or future of past. He's not in my chats. He is not anywhere to be found. He has just disappeared, like in a magic trick.

In the app, at first it looks like I have zero guests in the guests submenu. But if I actually click on the link he suddenly appears, only he shows as an upcoming guest even though the left today. Then, there is no button or link anywhere to leave a reference. And if I go to his profile in order to post it there, I cannot specify that it is a hosting one, so it would be like I never hosted him.

JESUS CHRIST, WHAT IS THIS???

It is hard to wrap your mind around how absolutely shitty the new platform is, part 534: the references.

All of a sudden I have seven more references than before the update, and I have no clue where the new ones have come from (I can't see them).

Out of my 142 references I can see a total of 65. I don't know where the remaining 77 have gone.

Out of the 65 references that I can see, in one of them the text is gone (I could swear I remember what the person had said but now it's not there), and another one comes from 'null', which means that either that's a bug, or a reference from a person who left the platform and deleted their data is suddenly showing again.

Now it is not immediately visible if someone has negative references or not, you have to filter by them in order to find out. And since there seems to be a 15-year-old cutoff for how long references are at all displayed, it seems that if you have negative references that are older than that no one will even know. Basically an amnesty. I know a guy who had a hidden camera in his bathroom and took pictures of female guests while they were in the shower, so, you know, soon the references from these guests will be gone. No big deal.

The functionality to filter references by 'host', 'traveler', etc, doesn't work at all on my phone. No matter what I do, the results are all mixed up.

Someone sent me a couch request two weeks ago but later clarified that she just wanted to hang out. Even though I didn't host her, nor I think I even ever accepted her couch request, now I have a 'very likely to recommend' empty reference from her, of the traveler kind. Which means that a no reference must have translated into an automatic very positive reference.

This is not explicitly about references, but anyway: Ok, so I can't see my references that are older than fifteen years old (and maybe others; honestly, who the fuck knows), but I can see messages from 17 years ago and sometimes they appear as 'chat requests' I can still accept, because that makes a lot of sense apparently. And if I do accept any of those, they go into my 'chats' folder and, check this out, the date of the message sent 17 years ago changes to right now, so it shows like the message was just sent to me the second that I accepted the request.

I mean, you gotta hand it to Couchsurfing when it comes to developing a classy, user-friendly, sensible, not buggy at all app. Bra-vo.

That's all, I just thought it was very funny. The point of this site seems to be to participate in usability tests and I can't use the site itself at all.

I have tried two different browsers (Firefox and Chrome), I have inspected the console looking for errors, I have tried clicking on 'Next' a dozen times (obviously with the all the fields filled, not like in the screenshot). No field shows in red, no error message appears, no nothing. The Next button briefly disappears, then appears again.

Great start for a user testing site!
