Best front door material for Philippine weather? My wooden door keeps swelling and warping.

Best front door material for Philippine weather? My wooden door keeps swelling and warping.

My solid wood front door keeps swelling during the rainy season and has gradually warped from years of rain, humidity, and direct sunlight. It's now difficult to open and close.

I also noticed that my door doesn't seem to have a proper door jamb (hamba). Could that be contributing to the problem, or is it mainly because of the wood?

I'm planning to replace it. What door material would you recommend for the Philippine climate that won't warp or swell over time? Any advice on whether I should also replace or install a proper door jamb (hamba) would be greatly appreciated.

Follow-up on Neighbor’s Openings Facing My Property

I spoke with my neighbor, and they said the front and rear portions of the 2nd floor will be terraces, with vertical privacy slats facing our property. Their wall is built directly beside my fence, with no apparent setback.

From what I understand, openings may not be allowed when a structure is built directly on the property line without the required setback. Is that correct?

Also, even if that area is being used as a terrace rather than an indoor room, wouldn't the wall with the vertical slat openings still need to comply with firewall requirements? Can vertical privacy slats be considered compliant, or would that side need to be fully enclosed?

Just looking for clarification so I can discuss this properly and amicably with my neighbor.

Is It Legal for My Neighbor to Have an Opening Facing My Backyard?

Our neighbor is currently renovating their house, and they've created a large opening on the side facing our backyard. I'm not sure whether this will become a bedroom window, a terrace opening, or something else.

Is this legally allowed? I was under the impression that if it's built along the property line or a firewall, it should remain a solid wall without windows or openings facing the neighboring property.

Are they allowed to have a window or direct view into our side? Has anyone experienced a similar situation, and what are the rules or building code requirements regarding this? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

How can I maximize this solar setup? Any upgrade tips?

This solar setup came with the house I bought, but right now I only use it during brownouts. Feels like I’m not maximizing it for daily use.

I tried running it in hybrid mode with Meralco + solar before, but my Meralco bill actually went up since the batteries were also charging from the grid.

So currently, I just keep it as backup power for emergencies and outages.

Any suggestions on how I can make better use of this setup? Maybe upgrades, settings, or changes I should look into?
