I need advice. Nakiswipe sa CC ng mom ko yung buong fam ng pinsan nya and now hirap nila singilin

I know that “pa-swipe” is a not-so-smart business idea and I know na rin na it shouldn’t be. To make this short, may pinsan yung mom ko na nakapagpa swipe na samin before and I think ayos naman sila magbayad dati pero now?? Pahirapan na sila ireach out, nang rerestrict and nang uunfriend. No response na at all, last convo nung son nila is magbabayad daw sa date na ganto ganyan pero wala namang sinend na payment. Yung mga pinaswipe nila ngayon more or less 200k. Since nasistress yung mom ko kakaabono, gusto ko na sana mag take ng legal actions. Ako na sana mag aasikaso kasi natatagalan ako kay mama. Matagal pa yung installment plan nila e so matagal pa kaming mamomroblema, di ko afford yung ganon katagal na stress for my mom and sakin na rin. Is there any way para makapag file ng complaint against them? My problem lang din is idk where they live exactly if ever need man yon.

I know na lesson ito at “you deserve what you tolerate” pero please I just need an advice and hindi judgement

Security Bank called me 17 times from 17 different numbers in 6 hours over ONE missed payment.

I missed one credit card due date, due Aug. 7. On Aug. 18, while at work I started getting calls from a string of numbers on my personal phone that I didn’t recognize, none labeled as Security Bank. I searched online and found out they were from Security Bank’s third-party collection partner.

I paid the full balance that same day around 11 AM (when I had a break from meetings), through the Security Bank app, using my Security Bank account (for same day posting), including the late fee and interest. Calls kept coming into the afternoon anyway.

17 calls, one day, 17 different numbers: 8:26 AM, 9:40 AM, 10:26 AM, 10:41 AM, 10:52 AM, 11:05 AM, 11:15 AM, 12:23 PM, 2:01 PM, 2:06 PM, 2:11 PM, 2:16 PM, 2:20 PM, 2:24 PM, 2:28 PM, 2:32 PM, 2:33 PM.

The 2:20-2:33 PM stretch alone: 4 calls in 13 minutes. I’m at work and can’t take personal calls during business hours, so this was genuinely disruptive on top of everything else.

I filed a formal written complaint at 11:26 AM that day with the full call log. Their response acknowledged the frequency issue but framed it as “collection-related call-outs may be initiated as part of the bank’s collections process,” and asked me to give them my preferred contact time for future calls. I followed up clarifying I wasn’t disputing the missed payment, I was objecting to the volume and the fact that calls continued after I’d paid.

They routed it to their Collections Team, promised a reply within 7 banking days. When it finally came today at 1:47 PM, the response said:

- The calls were an “approved Collection tool” used to reach customers, no further explanation given.

- They just confirmed my payment had posted and told me to disregard any further texts/emails.

They then closed the case without addressing my formal complaint about how their third party conducts collections, my questions on why the calls needed to be that frequent and from so many different numbers, and why customers are harassed with collection calls when a monetary penalty is already being imposed.

Why I think this is the wrong way to run collections:
- I missed one cycle, not a year of nonpayment.

- I was already charged late fees and interest. That’s supposed to cover the cost of being late.

- Getting called by 17 different unlabeled numbers in one day, several after I’d already paid, isn’t a reminder, it’s overkill.

- Other banks just send an SMS before the due date. That alone prevents most missed payments and costs the bank nothing compared to a call center chasing people down.

- If the late fee already compensates for the risk, what’s the aggressive call volume actually accomplishing besides making customers feel harassed?

For context, I’ve missed payments with other banks a couple of times before they started sending sms reminders of the due datw. In those cases, I just got the bill on the next cycle with a late charge and interest added, no barrage of calls, no harassment. That’s it. I though that’s how it’s normally handled.

Curious what others think, is this a normal collections practice in the Philippines that we’re all expected to accept, or does this cross a line worth reporting to BSP? Has anyone had a BSP complaint like this go anywhere?

Does anyone else get more frequent auto-CLIs on the cards they barely use?

Is it just me, or are trad banks super stingy with auto credit limit increases?

My main cards are EastWest, RCBC, UnionBank, and BPI.
Except for a single increase from RCBC a year ago, none of them give auto-CLIs. UnionBank is actually my oldest card (2 years now) and has never increased my limit automatically, so I have to request one manually every 6 months.

Meanwhile, Maya and Zed give me frequent auto-CLIs even though I literally only use them for my iCloud subscription and occasional coffee runs. Anyone else experiencing this?

Please debunk this.

BDO debited ₱16,646 from my savings account to pay a credit card I never owned.

Hi everyone. I’m looking for advice from anyone who has dealt with something similar involving BDO, unauthorized credit cards, or BSP complaints.

BDO deducted ₱16,646.2 from my deposit account through a “deposit set-off” to supposedly settle a BDO ShopMore Mastercard ending in 6100.

The problem is:

I have never owned this credit card.

I never applied for it, authorized it, received it, activated it, possessed it, or used it.

I formally disputed the credit card account and the deduction with BDO and asked for the full ₱16,646.22 to be returned to my account.

BDO initially replied that my refund request had been endorsed to upper management but was declined. They said the money was used to fully settle “my BDO Mastercard” and cited their Terms and Conditions allowing them to set off credit card debt against a BDO deposit account.

I replied that this completely misses the issue.

I’m not disputing whether BDO can perform a set-off against someone who legitimately owes them credit card debt.

I’m disputing that the credit card was ever mine in the first place.

I asked them to provide documentation showing how this card was supposedly opened under my name, including the application, IDs used, registered contact information, delivery/activation records, transaction history, and their basis for linking the credit card to me.

Their latest response was:

“We assume that proper KYC has been established.”

This is what concerns me the most. They took ₱16,646.22 from my bank account, but when I dispute ownership of the credit card, their response is that they assume proper KYC was established.

I have now asked them to verify the KYC records instead of assuming and to show the documentary basis proving that I personally applied for or authorized this credit card.

My main goal is simple:

I want the full ₱16,646.22 returned because this is not my credit card and I did not incur this debt.

Has anyone experienced something similar?

Would you recommend escalating this to BSP at this point, or should I wait for another formal response from BDO first?

Also, if anyone has gone through a BSP complaint involving an unauthorized credit card/account or wrongful set-off, I’d really appreciate hearing how the process went and what documents I should prepare.

Thank you.

BPI Relationship Building: Wait for a Pre-Qualified CC Offer or Get a Secured Credit Card?

Hi everyone! I’d appreciate some honest advice, especially from those who have experience with BPI and credit cards.

I’ve had my BPI Savings account since February 2022. It originally started as my payroll account, so I’ve technically had a banking relationship with BPI for more than four years. It was eventually converted into a regular savings account.

However, around November 2024, I basically drained the account because I decided to prioritize digital banks at the time. Since then, I’ve mainly been using my BPI account as a cash-withdrawal account whenever I need physical cash. Recently, it only had around ₱8,000 in it.

Interestingly, from around Q4 2023 until October 2024, I was receiving pre-qualified credit card offers through the BPI app. At that time, I wasn't interested because I had a pretty negative impression of credit cards and didn't want to get one.

My perspective has changed over the past few months. I now want to get a credit card mainly to build a proper credit history and eventually establish a good relationship with BPI.

My original plan was to transfer around ₱100,000 into my BPI savings account, including its existing balance, and keep the funds there to rebuild my relationship with the bank. Then I was thinking of simply maintaining the account and waiting around 6 months to see if BPI would proactively offer me a credit card again.

But I'm also considering another approach:

Option 1: Fund my BPI savings with around ₱50k–₱100k, maintain the balance, regularly use the account, and wait for BPI to potentially give me a pre-qualified credit card offer again after several months.

Option 2: Go directly to a BPI branch and apply for a secured credit card, place around ₱30k as the required holdout, use the card responsibly for around a year, and hopefully establish a credit history that way.

So, what would be the wiser approach?

Would rebuilding my BPI deposit relationship and waiting for a regular/pre-qualified credit card be better in the long run? Or would getting a secured credit card now be more practical since my main goal is to start building credit history?

I'm not really after a high credit limit. My priority is building a good credit record, establishing a stronger relationship with BPI, and eventually becoming eligible for a regular unsecured credit card.

For those who have actually gone through either route with BPI, what worked better for you?

Would you personally choose to park ₱50k–₱100k in BPI and wait, or lock ₱30k into a secured card and start building credit immediately?

Thanks in advance for any insights! 🙏

Metrobank MFree to Travel Visa Signature conversion declined

Anyone who has experience getting declined to convert their existing MFree or any Metrobank CC to Travel Visa Signature? Any guess why?

For context, I have a long time CC with Metrobank (started with another card type with AF then I converted to MFree). Recently I asked to convert to Travel Visa Signature but got declined. No explanations. I don’t understand what’s the issue - I have 6 digit deposit, high CC limit and always paid. I just like their travel card so I’m willing to find a way to “resolve” it.

Applied for CC but always declined.

Hi! I am a virtual assistant for 6 years. 6 digits earner na din po ako. Matagal na po ang account ko with BPI and Chinabank pero never sila nag offer sakin ng CC.

I am also a frequent travel almost every month and lahat po ng gastos ko is cash or debit card since wala po akong CC and nanghihinayang ako sa benefits neto.

Lastly, nag try po ako sa home credit but 5 yrs ago pa yon and now may Atome Card po ako good payer naman. Hehe

Thank you sa sasagot!!

Increase in Limit to all bank cards

Aside sa need namin ng increase para magamit for installment and future travels lagi kaming declined.

Not sure why if sa economy ng Pilipinas kaya sobrang higpit na ng mga banks ngayon or what.

We pay our dues on time, pero every time na mag request kami ng increase puro decline. Bakit kaya? Our cards, mag iisang taon to 3 years na.

We have tried Chinabank, BPI, Eastwest, and BDO. Minsan sabay mag request. Minsan a few months pa.

RCBC after na approved. Ilang buwan lang biglang binalik sa dating limit. 😅🤣

Metrobank - 1 year pa daw bago makapag request. And I see some card holders nakapag request agad after 7 months. 😌 And good for them.
