Doomers are fundamentally narcissistic and selfish.

Every doomer I have ever met, they love to drum up this "late stage capitalist doomsday apocalypse" but what I consistently see is that they, consciously or not, use it as the ultimate cop-out for why they are going nowhere in life.

It's not a prediction, it is a revenge fantasy. My exes were doomers who loved to say "fuck the system," but are also endlessly preoccupied with fantasies of wealth & success that they lack the ambition & humility to actually achieve.

Their entire belief system implies the mindset that "if I can't have nice things, nobody else should either," but they frame it this way so they can sound morally and intellectually superior. I've even been called a "fascist" and a "nazi sympathizer" because I cared more about pursuing the things I wanted in life than their revolutionary LARP. It's completely selfish and scummy.

Boomers complaining about prices while refusing to shop anywhere cheaper.

I worked at Publix in an area with a lot of retirees, and they would act surprised every time they were rung up and would routinely complain how expensive we were. You're here multiple times a week and yet you always forget that our stores carry a premium by design?

If it's such a problem, why don't you go to Kroger, Walmart, Food Lion, or Aldi which are all down the street? Hell, Costco and Sam's Club aren't much further.

"What, you thought you could just get stuff by sitting around? Of COURSE you have to take action! 🤪"

LOA cultists often say this to people who are trying to manifest by following the "methods" and inevitably fail.

But yet, at the same time, you NEVER hear them direct that same point towards Rhonda Byrne or Esther Hicks - the people who built their entire platforms on the EXPLICIT promise that you could get whatever you wanted, when you wanted, using thought and feeling alone, and made MILLIONS off of it.

Just thought it was funny how the blame shifting and the criticism only goes one way.

Realizing that retail is so hard ironically BECAUSE the work itself is easy.

The tasks are mindless, so managers and coworkers have all the mental capacity in the world for petty politics and power trips. When only like 20% of my brain was needed for actual work, it was impossible to ignore when I was being undermined by cliques or sidelined by favoritism. It really was high school all over again. Peace is never an option, the people you work with LOOK for reasons to be mad at you. Also combine that with the existential dread of feeling like I was wasting my youth and not having a plan for my future. That shit was burning me out more than any amount of actual work ever could. I was expending all my energy, most of it walking on eggshells or having an existential crisis, and had nothing to show for it but a paycheck. But hey, if it weren't so terrible, I probably wouldn't have gone back to college. Fuck Whole Foods.
