Residential Real Estate Attorney Recommendations

My husband and I are looking for a residential real estate attorney for buying a home in BC. We’re planning to purchase without a buyer’s agent, so we’d like someone who is responsive, thorough, and hands-on during the contract review and negotiation process.

Would love recommendations from people who have used their attorney for a recent home purchase. Who did you use, and would you use them again? Alternatively, if you had a poor experience with someone please feel free to give a heads up.

Thanks!

Fit Check?

This sub popped up on my Reddit timeline so thought I’d give this a go! I haven’t been able to really baby wear as it makes my prolapse more symptomatic. But decided to wear baby today for first time in a while and idk it didn’t seem as comfortable as it did the few times I wore it before. I can kiss his head but something just feels off?

Baby is 5 months, about 17lbs, and the brand is Infantino(?). It was just something I got on Amazon but it’s not super easy to get baby in and out of. I don’t think I could ever do a wrap, but if there are easy to put on wearables would love a recommendation!

ETA: I tried folding the little flappy bit at the top of his neck/head (he can hold his head up no problem) but it didn’t really stay down.

Homeowners Insurance?

Buying a home in Bergen County and trying to do some research on homeowners insurance. I know rates are probably insane but wanted to get a general sense of who people are using and about how much you may pay. I really don’t want to enter my phone and email to these random sites that will spam you for years and years to “get a free quote!”

TIA!

House Hunting

Hi all - I know this topic is talked about to exhaustion (and the megathread seems to be locked) but my husband and I live in a rental in Bergen County now and are looking to buy our first home now that we have a little one. I’m on maternity leave and returning to work in September so will need to commute to downtown Manhattan/WTC area (train to Hoboken is best).

We’re currently looking at kinda the usual suspects: Glen Rock, Ridgewood, Wyckoff, Allendale and also Upper Saddle River. We’re torn between buying a smaller home with a better commute that we’ll grow out of in 5 years (eg in Glen Rock) or maybe getting some more space that we could live in long term but would be at the breaking point commute-wise (like USR).

Any working moms here that have done the commute from somewhere like Upper Saddle River but still have time to run their households? And in a place like USR, did you find that not having a downtown made daily activities (making friends, food shopping, etc.) infinitely more difficult?

Traveling for Wedding in September

Hi all,

Looking for some advice. My husband and I are traveling to Estoril for a wedding in early September. We have a newborn that the grandparents are willing to watch for us if we only stay for a few days (they can’t physically keep up with a newborn for much longer than that).

We’re looking at arriving in Lisbon on a Friday morning and then the wedding festivities are Sunday evening (welcome dinner) and Monday early evening (ceremony/reception) in Estoril. We’d have to head back to the states Tuesday morning to pick up baby from Grandparents.

If we do Friday-Saturday in Lisbon and Sunday-Monday in Estoril and Cascais is this enough time or will it feel really rushed? We’re debating if it’s worth staying a few days longer, but if that’s the case would have to bring our baby with us and then it would feel less so like a vacation.

Would welcome any thoughts or itinerary suggestions. TIA!
