App for hiking that respects privacy?

I'm looking for an app that doesn't share my data. I'm only interested in simple metrics - distance and elevation gain. The ability to connect to my Polar chest strap to record heart rate would be a plus but not a deal breaker. I'm on Android. Any suggestions?

Ambient light sensor on Garmin Epix Pro (Gen 2)

I've just returned a Fenix 8 AMOLED because I hated how dim it was in low light conditions (I could barely read the display).

I know the Fenix Epix Pro (Gen 2) also has one.

The question is, can you turn it off or at least change the settings somehow so that it doesn't get as dark as a Fenix 8?

Before someone suggests MIP, I am well aware this is not an issue on MIP displays but I'd rather stick with AMOLED.

Which model show I buy for these needs?

Hello.

I've decided to buy a smartwatch and I'm tempted to buy a Garmin. I don't need a ton a features, but I want a watch that performs the functions that I actually need as well as possible.

So, I intend to use the watch both for work and sports. During my workday, sometimes I have to walk quite a lot, sometimes I don't walk that much but perform physically intensive tasks (like moving heavy items). Sometimes, my workday can be quite a workout in itself and I'd like to know by the end of the day, how my heart rate varied, what distance have I walked and some metrics that can evaluate my physical effort after a working day.

As far as sports are concerned, I swim frequently in a pool and hike (less frequently).

A rugged watch is a plus. I don't want to worry about damaging the watch if I bump with it against something. A flashlight is also a big plus (I use my cellphone flashlight frequently, but find it inconvenient).

Accuracy is something I also value, especially when it comes to heart rate and distance.

Having said this, which model do you guys recommend? Thanks.
