Car flood insurance Ontario.

My car had rusted brake lines that leaked. It's not covered by a recall. I went to a repair shop to ask for a general estimate I was told $1500

I had the car towed on Monday June 29 to the repair shops parking lot. On July 1, we had rain flooding areas of the city. The repair shop were closed on July 1 and 2.

I called on Friday July 3 to ask about the flooding, she said the water didn't touch the underside of the cars. They will work on my car on Monday July 6.

Saturday evening I went to the repair shop to look at my car. It was no longer in the parking lot. I could see through the garage door window that it was now inside their garage with the car doors open and with 2 fans blowing.

I suspect they will not tell me my car got wet inside during the flood. I don't know the damage to the interior of my car, should I still report it to the insurance company?

I don't want to spend $1500 for repairs only to have the car have electrical failures later.

vmr canada.com says my car is worth wholesale $4125 and resale $6075. Which amount does the insurance company pay out?

Kia Forte 2012: Possible flood damage question

I had my car towed to a repair garage on Monday June 29, 2026 to have the brake line replaced.

They were supposed to give me an estimate on Tuesday but on the phone they postponed this because they had work on other cars to complete.
They said they would work on it on Friday.

Wednesday July 1st and July 2 they were on holidays.
July 1st we had heavy rain and flooding in different parts of the city.

Friday I called and asked if they were going to work on my car today.
And did my car get flooded in their parking lot.
The receptionist replied they will work on my car on Monday.
She said there was flooding in the parking lot but it didn't go past the rocker panels so my car was fine.

Saturday evening I went to get groceries with a friend. After we went to look at my car in the parking lot of the garage.

It wasn't there, so I looked in the garage's door windows and it was inside with my all car's doors open and a fan on each side.

So I assume that my car did get flooded otherwise why put fans.

My car is 2012 with 28 000 km milage.

It needs new brake lines at $1500 so I want to know what to do.
I don't want to spend 1500 dollars only for it to have more problems later.
If only the carpets got wet, will the car have problems later?

There are other businesses including auto repair garages in the building.

I puzzled as to why they didn't tell me my car got flooded.
Did they lie because they are worried I will sue them?
I'm confused and distrustful that they didn't tell me.

My friend said some of the wiring runs along under the sides of the carpets.I don't know what to do. I can't call the insurance company to ask them because I don't know how much flooding occurred.
My car is a low milage 2012, I'll get peanuts from the insurance company.

My car is a low milage 2012, but I'll get peanuts from the insurance company.

The parking lot is shared with other businesses. I don't know if that car repair business owns the garage or do they rent it?

Is the garage responsible for my car if it ends up not working right after they fix the original problem?
