For those who had a resection, did other symptoms improve?

Hey all.

I’m curious to know if extra intestinal symptoms, like joint pain, went away after surgery?

The idea of surgery scares me but I’m desperate to feel better! I have a consultation with a colorectal surgeon in a few weeks.

Seeing an actual IBD specialist after dealing with a crappy GI. What to expect?

Hey everyone.

Diagnosed with CD and currently on humira, but things are getting worse and my current GI sucks. Unresponsive, reschedules appointments, and doesn't seem to know a whole lot about IBD as a whole.

Luckily, I was able to get in with a specialist at UC Davis! What should I expect? I assume this is going to be more in depth than my normal GI, but I'm not sure.

Thank you!

Increased anxiety while taking prednisone

Does anyone else experience increased anxiety while on prednisone? I’m currently taking it for a Crohn’s disease flare. I did 7 days 40mg, 7 days 30mg and I’m halfway through 7 days of 20mg.

I also take vyvanse and Effexor. I’m not sure who to contact about this. I feel like I’m going to jump out of my skin.

Seeking advice for why shades EQ washes out so quickly

Hey everyone!
Last week I had shades eq levels 6-7 on my roots and 9-10 applies to my mid lengths to lends. I use shades on my hair every 4 weeks or so because of how fast it washes out.

Shampoo: Amika Big Hit Shampoo
Conditioner: Purology Hydrate or Matrix Food for Soft, alternate every other wash.
K18 Mask: apply every 4 washes or so on towel dried hair after shampoo, no conditioner.
Leave in: Purology Color Fanatic leave in
Heat protectant: Redken Big Blowout Heat Protecting Jelly and Kenra blow dry spray.

I’m at a loss and super frustrated! It looks so good for one wash but then it fades so fast and starts to get warm. I have a filter on my shower head and change it regally. I wash my hair every 2-3 days.

What characteristics does the “perfect” GI have?

Hi everyone. I’m waiting to get scheduled with a GI at a university medical hospital and thinking a lot about what I’d want from a GI.

I’m curious to know what everyone’s dream GI is like?
Also wondering if people have communicated their needs / wants to a GI in the hopes of receiving better care?

Thank you!

How to know when you should switch doctors?

Hiiii everyone.
As the title says, how do you know when it’s time to switch doctors?

I’ve only seen my current GI once and that was in March. Had an appointment scheduled for 6/22 but they called in April saying he was going to be out of the office so it got rescheduled for 6/29. They called again last and said he will be out of the office again and the next available is 8/26.

The GI expects my rheumatologist to do everything because she is better at communicating things to me. I’ve only seen this man once but the communication is horrible.

It took my GI two days to review my MRI and wanted to see me after, as where my doctor called me three weeks after it was done.

Am I being too picky? I have an amazing rheumatologist and pcp, which might set my expectations too high. Ugh.

Rant: Why is prednisone the go to?

Hi everyone.

I’ve got CD with inflammation and structures in my TI. I’ve been humira since the beginning of February and currently take it weekly. I’ve been dealing with worse than usual constipation the last 10 days and haven’t had a movement since Tuesday night. I’m still passing gas so I know it’s not a full blockage thank goodness.

I called my GIs office this morning to discuss with them and my doctor is putting me on 40mg of prednisone, taking 10mg less every seven days. They’re in the process of trying to get me on skyrizi because he doesn’t like the results from my MRI that I had at end of April.

Why is prednisone always the go to?! Is there nothing else they can prescribe to help? The side effects are awful. I expressed my thoughts to the nurse and she said that’s the best they can do for me. I’m supposed to get labwork done next month, including calprotectin. Anytime I’ve taken prednisone it always lowers it so much that my doctors think “I’m fine”.

Has anyone been prescribed a medication similar to prednisone that can help with inflammation but isn’t prednisone?

Schiphol security lines really that bad?

Hey all. Flying out tomorrow to Heathrow. I have a time slot booked for security, but saw some comments on other threads that they weren’t available. I’m wondering if the time slot will get cancelled.

Are the lines that bad? I saw on the news lots of people missed flights Monday but no updates since then.

Thank you
