labeling fridge bottles

hi! im a ftm to a 7 weeker (1 week in the NICU, FGR, he’s still under 9 lbs).

when we came home from the hospital, we labeled EVERYTHING we put into the fridge after pumping. now, however, since week 4ish I usually produce enough for a whole bottle on each side, so I devised a system where I didn’t label and just arranged 3 bottles in a row, put the newest pumped milk in the back, and instructed my husband to always pull from the front. i did test it a few weeks ago and the back bottle was used within 6-9 hours.

(if there is extra milk from a pump that gets put into a different shape bottle and usually gets bagged up and frozen within a day.)

HOWEVER husband recently told me he doesn’t always pull from the front (sometimes amounts vary slightly and he sometimes chose based on that, as afternoons he eats more that nights etc.). I am now in a panic that there could have been a bottle in there LO got fed over the last weeks that somehow got shuffled around long enough to exceed the 4 day safe window and was bad. I think this is super unlikely but still worried (we did dump the bottles currently in the fridge for bath milk to be safe). He’s has had GI upset since he was born (they told us reflux in the NICU, we now are investigating intolerances) so I’m worried we just would not even know!

anything to make this anxious mom feel better? and, is this method ok if we stick to it or should i be labeling 15+ bottles every day? (we label all freezer bags.)

(husband is excellent, takes great care of baby, we just weren’t thinking likely due to sleep deprivation.) thank you!!

IUGR/FGR in pregnancy

hello everyone! new-ish to reddit.

trigger warnings - pregnancy, pregnancy complications

diagnosed w endo in jan 2025. initially doctor didn’t see much but took a couple biopsies and was positive for endo in both; left uterosacral ligament and pouch of douglas. was told it was very mild but “obviously they wouldn’t know if there was anything on the inside of my uterus/organs.” lol

conceived without too much difficulty. (yay!!) no pregnancy complications first or second trimester besides abdominal and pelvic pain and lots of braxton hicks. was measuring normal at anatomy scan and fundal height checks for the most part but at 36w growth scan suddenly bb is measuring overall 3 percentile with head in the 44 percentile. suspected asymmetrical IUGR.

they so far haven’t been able to identity anything wrong - my bloodwork is stellar and he got an 8/8 on bpp (measuring amniotic fluid and cord flow to check for placental insufficiency, typical cause of IUGR). passed NST.

initial googles have some research showing DIE has an association with FGR/IUGR but just wondering if any other endo ladies have experienced IUGR and if their doctors suspected any correlation? given my endo is “mild” don’t think im anywhere near to qualifying for DIE and just curious if anyone else has any personal stories.

thank you!!

****ETA: this is baby’s room for 10 months until we move, so it’s in large part for us. wanted a place i will feel at peace postpartum. we will be relaxing and breastfeeding in here - and we also are avoiding polyester and plastic and dyes so a lot harder to find super colorful stuff! we do have a lot of colorful books and toys and clothes they’re just not out rn :) also - the black cabinet is a murphy bed and crib is portable, so this is also our guest room!

welcome constructive feedback but would prompt some of you going beyond that to reflect - what’s worse for a baby - muted colors or that level of negativity in a parent or caregiver?

thanks for the ideas! once he is bigger and we own the place we are living (we are renting rn) i want to have a big ol colorful mural and/or lots of pics from our adventures with lil guy. or he might decide he wants a red and blue spiderman room and we will have to indulge him. it’s not that deep, i promise!

thanks all who are being kinder to this very pregnant lady :)

**** ETA PT 2: here are links to where we got some of baby’s developmental toys that are organic and/or nontoxic and very much ~colorful~ if anyone else is interested :)
rolling wheel
fabric ball
mirrors
activity book

does this deck need work done ?

howdy! we just moved into a new rental that has a deck. never had a deck before and not sure how to tell if a deck is unsafe besides the fact that im standing on it and it feels fairly sturdy. some creaks when i walk on it but nothing crazy!

we are due in july and just want to make sure this will be a safe spot for the whole family to hang out and not sure if landlord will fix it up unless it is dire (we did inquire about the last time an inspection was done and are waiting to hear back).

any knowledge based off these limited 3 photos is appreciated before we contact professionals.

thanks!
