Got a couple records im proud of today!

I got 2 records today, both first pressings. The first record is by Herman's Hermits, and its their "Theres a kind of hus all over the world". The second is the Beatles's "Abbey Road". Both US first pressings, the Herman's one is 1967 and Abbey Road is a 1969 Jacksonville pressing.

Herman's Hermits holds a special place in my heart as both my grandma and grandpa used to listen to them alot, and now i have a pressing of one of the records they liked.

Abbey road is just iconic obv.

Total was $70.

Looking for recommendations for a watch i really want.

So i just recently got into watches bc i was kinda forced by my job. Turns out i really like how they look and work, but i cant really afford anything "nice".

Although i really want a dress watch with a gold case, black dial with gold roman numerals, a seconds hand, a black leather strap, and preferably quartz movement or automatic. My budget is about $250. Or maybe i could have insight on getting a custom one? Any advice accepted!

Opeth appreciation post.

Tldr; this band saved my life and is the reason im able to get through alot of stuff at the moment.

Anyways, i just wanted to rant about how this band changed me. For starters, im much more emotional now (could be good or bad depending on the situation), and im not afraid to express that anymore.

Ive been listening to them for about 5 years, and they've consistently been my number one in every category. Tge emotion, feelings, atmosphere, musicianship, and more is just so perfect to me. I mean Mikael is my main inspiration for what i do now.

When i got with my ex a 1½ years ago, she knew i loved opeth. Our first shared album was "My Arms your Hearse", which is my favorite record ever. I made a promise to see them with her. This promise came true on valentines day this year, at the bomb factory in dallas. I cried so hard that night. It was her first ever concert and she caught Mikaels pick!

A little bit before this, we had an event that changed how i had felt security wise. I couldnt trust her anymore. I felt she would leave. But when they played "To Ride the Disease", i just held her and cried the entire time. Ive never felt so much sadness until that moment.

I had a feeling she would leave soon after, and she did. Twice. And i took her back both times. I eventually broke up with her due to my mental health getting worse and worse, and i hated myself for it. I wanted to kill myself so bad, but i was scared.

She found someone less than a week after i left, and that still hurts me. I felt so worthless in the moment.

Cut to almost 3 months later and i thought i was doing a little better. I bought a damnation record and played it tonight. I cried through the whole thing. I had been keeping these emotions in since the breakup, and im so happy to have them out now.

It hurts so unbelievably bad, but im still here. And its largely due to Opeth.

Im so thankful for this band. They genuinely changed who i am. I realistically wouldnt be here anymore if it wasnt for them over the years. Thank you.

His last (and current) helmet is some $70 amazon modular. It genuinely feels like a toy from china. You can literally bend the entire thing while putting it on. It has a DOT sticker which im 100% sure isnt legal since its some slop brand that never underwent actual testing (i presume).

He says that "a helmet is a helmet" and "its got the sticker". I tell him that literally any company can put a sticker on their helmets, but some amazon branded helmet is most likely never gonna be really tested.

He also says "it wont make a difference crashing at 80 mph anyways" which feels just like excuses to me. I tell him that he should atleast spend more than $160 for the proper ratings (atleast real DOT) and he says "they all serve the same purpose".

I personally wear a scorpion exo covert fx, which does have DOT and ECE R22.06 ratings and it feels so much higher quality and safer than his amazon one.

I genuinely dont know what to do as he's being very stubborn on the pricing and he refuses to see the difference in the safety and quality. Im thinking about just taking him to a gear store and buying one for him.

Does anyone have any tips / recommendations?

Tldr; My dad refuses to buy a helmet with proper safety ratings and shitty quality just to save money instead of protecting himself no matter what i say or do.
