Messed up GBC C35 pad/trace. Getting blank screen, need help with bypass points

Hey guys,

Was doing a recap on my Game Boy Color and completely ruined the C35 positive pad and the tiny vertical trace next to it.

The console actually powers on fine now (power LED is bright and stays on), but the screen is totally blank/white. Pretty sure it’s a contrast issue because of C35.

Pulled all my messy wires off to clean up the area. Planning to just use a flying 22uF capacitor to bypass the whole ruined area.

Can anyone confirm if these alternate spots will work?

Positive (+) leg of the new cap -> directly to the positive leg of C38 (large gold cap).

Negative (-) leg of the new cap -> directly to the negative battery terminal (BT-).

Attached a few close-up photos of the current board. If anyone has a better alternative point or can draw a quick diagram on my pics, that would be awesome. Thanks a ton!

Hello, is there a translated manual for Sakura Wars GB 1?

I'm running the Sakura Wars GB 1 cartridge on a physical Game Boy, not an emulator.

However, I can't speak Japanese well. I tried using a camera translation app, but it's pretty useless because the game has a timer system during dialogue choices.

Is there a pause feature or something similar to stop the timer? I'm really curious about this game :)

Update on my Tamagotchi GB 3: It actually works! Video and YT link incoming.

Finally, my Tamagotchi GB 3 made a sound! It turns out that this Tamagotchi GB 3 really has to wait for it to poop, be disciplined, or ask for food and play with me.

Also, a huge thanks to the Reddit users who helped me out yesterday! I will share the video Now

Help! Tamagotchi GB3 sound is very low & noisy (won't save)

Need help with my Tamagotchi GB3. Just swapped the battery and cleaned the gold pads, but the speaker sound is extremely quiet and only makes static noise. It also won't save any data.

PCB and oscillator look fine. Anyone know what's wrong? Is it a bad capacitor?

Overheated board due to PCB heat sink effect. GBC cartridge went from freezing/hanging to a solid blank white screen.

Hi. The original positive battery tab snapped off, but the game still booted and worked fine at first. When I tried to solder a replacement, the PCB copper planes absorbed all the heat (heat sink effect) [DMG-A08-01].

I kept the iron on the board for too long, which severely overheated the board and completely ripped off the positive battery pad, leaving a messy solder blob near the SRAM chip. After that, the game started to freeze/hang when I turned it on. But today, after letting it cool down completely, the issue grew worse and now the cartridge only boots to a solid blank white screen (no Nintendo logo at all), even without any battery connected.

My question: Did the prolonged overheating crack a vital trace overnight as it cooled down, or is the solder blob causing a permanent short circuit? Can I fix this blank screen issue by running a jumper wire from a new tabbed battery directly to Pin 28 (top-right pin) of the SHARP SRAM chip near the C5 capacitor [DMG-A08-01]?

Thanks for any advice!

I'm stuck on how to decorate this one. Does anyone have any cute accessory suggestions that go well with this design?

I’m actually thinking of making some DIY paper accessories or charms for it—do you think that would work? Or should I stick to traditional charms? I'd love to hear your ideas! :D

Hi everyone!

I'm currently restoring two Tamagotchi V5 (Familitchi) units. The white shell one is now back to normal and working perfectly! However, I'm struggling with the yellow shell unit.

One of the solder pads for the X1 oscillator is completely lifted/broken (the bottom one, marked with the black spot in the photo).

I've tried cleaning it, but the copper pad is gone. Is there a known jumper point for this specific trace on the V5 PCB? I can see a thin trace going to the right, but I'm not sure where it leads or if there's a safer spot to solder a jumper wire. Has anyone dealt with this before? Any advice on how to bring this yellow Tama back to life would be much appreciated!
