Any recent experience with onboard paid wifi on long haul trips to Asia?

Hello folks,

I have a non-stop flight coming back to Toronto from Seoul. I'm considering purchasing the upgraded wifi option (beyond the basic free one that just gets you some basic texting) that allows for web surfing and such. I am thinking of using it to get some work done and other stuff on the flight to check e-mails, surf a bit, and some access to some AI services like chatGPT, etc. I have no idea what the quality of the paid premium connection is like and I have heard reports that it can be pretty spotty and unreliable for chunks of these overseas flights depending and where you are at the time. When it is "reliable" what are the average speeds? Is it pretty slow regardless?

Any one have an recent updates for such flights?

Thanks

ki

Small name discrepancy between Social Security card and other ID

I tried to access my Social Security info online using my id.me log-in but that failed. I found out that the issue is due to a slight difference in my name in the SSA system vs all my other documentation like passport, driver's license, etc. The name in the SSA system (and my birth certificate) does not use a hyphen but instead uses a space while the rest of my documentation uses a hyphen. I don't recall (and neither do my parents) when I started to use a hyphen but it was pretty early in my childhood but I don't recall getting an official name change. I think I just started using it. Somehow my passports going back 30 years have the hyphen in it too. So do all my tax returns and my letters from the IRS and Dept of Treasury all use my name with the hyphen. But I also have some old letter from the SSA which don't use the hyphen so they definitely have that in their system that way. In any case I figure I should get this straightened out even though I do not live in the US any more (I've lived in Canada for the last 25 years). Does anyone have any advice on the best course of action. I will call the SSA office to let them know of my situation. Has anyone gone though something similar? Do you think I need to file an official name change?

UPDATE: I found more details which I believe is the root cause. It is not necessarily the hyphen. I found my birth certificate and I found out that part of my first name (I have a Korean first name which consists of two parts) was entered as a middle name. It took me this long to find out I have a legal middle name and I have been combining my first and middle name with a hyphen and using it as my first name. I find it amazing that I never ran into an issue until now. I have US passports and tax records going back 30 years with the hyphenated first name and never ran into an issue! I've voted in elections! Anyway I should likely fix this with SSA.

Current Nexus card mailing times to Canada

I had my Nexus interview on May 4th in Fort Erie / Buffalo. The CBP officer in Buffalo said my card will get mailed to me in about a month. It has been two months now. Can I assume that my card is lost in the mail? I live in Toronto. Anyone know what current mailing times are like?

I did e-mail them but only got a generic response so I'll have to call them next.
