Singapore and Shanghai Hotel Recommendations

I will be going to Shanghai and Singapore for the first time in 2027. It's not likely I'll get a chance to return to either location for a long time, so I'm looking to balance a memorable experience and price. ~500-600 USD/night (No Raffles or Kempinski unfortunately).

I have 3 FNC with Marriott to use, so was thinking of using it in Singapore, as hotels are more expensive.

Singapore:

  • Ritz Carlton (Is this better than Grand Hyatt)?
  • The Edition x3 nights
  • Final night at Marina Bay Sands

Shanghai

  • Looks like Jing'an is the best location
    • Alila
    • The PuLi
    • Upper House
    • Shangri-La
  • St Regis On the Bund is brought up a ton as a must stay,
    • could use as my last hotel when I come back from ZJJ

Experience Signature Family AAL discount

I'm seeing some DP's here that the AAL discount for all free lines should be $41.

On my plan, I'm seeing $36 and t-force is telling me that for lines < 9

It'll be $36 + 5 =$41.00

while for lines 9+, it will be $41.

It was mentioned that Magenta was double dipping AAL + Autopay, but go-forward that will not be the case. Does anyone know what is correct?

10 Days in Vietnam - Slow pace

Hey all.

Looking to visit Vietnam for 10 days next year (early-mid march). It's a small part of a larger Asia trip for multiple weddings, and I'll be coming from Boracay after a 6 days of wedding celebration (so probably looking to minimize the beach). Will be headed to Singapore after.

Interested in

  • Food
  • History
  • Culture

Will also have to commit probably 3-4 nights to work remotely EST hours.

- Base: Hanoi (airBNB)

Weekend trip (3 Night - 4 Days) : Cao Bang ( Ban Gioc, Nguom Ngao caves)

Day Trips: Ninh Binh, Ha Long Bay

I picked Hanoi since I really wanted to see Cao Bang.

Anything I'm missing/ or should see? I originally thought of staying in Da Nang, but coming from Manila and Boracay, I may not need the extra beach time.

For the days I'm working, I'll probably just keep it light and explore locally.

FHR - Singapore & Shanghai Recommendations

Planning a Singapore & Shanghai Trip in 2027.

I'll have 6 FHR Credits to play with, with some FNC to possibly use on top of these bookings. Looking for any opinions on the following hotels in Singapore & Shanghai.

Singapore:

  • The Singapore EDITION
  • The Ritz-Carlton, Millenia Singapore
  • The St. Regis Singapore
  • Marina Bay Sands - Will stay 1 night just because it's so iconic.

Will skip on the Fullerton & Raffles, as it really isn't my thing.

Shanghai:

  • Jing An Shangri-La, Shanghai
  • Upper House Shanghai
  • The PuLi Shanghai
  • Ritz-Carlton Shanghai Pudong

I'm probably leaning on Edition + Marina at Singapore. Puli or Ritz in Shanghai, but would love any opinions or other recommendations. Thanks!

Hotel / Airbnb Thoughts ?

I'll be making a big Asia trip in 2027 and one of my stops will be in Hanoi. It'll be my first time visiting Vietnam.

Currently planned for 7~8 days.

I currently have narrowed it down to a few options, and would love any feedback. I'm definitely looking for a more luxurious / premium experience, so the budget ~$1000 USD would be the max, but not against saving money either, as it's a fairly large asia trip.

I personally don't care for free Breakfast, since I'll eat locally (or not at all), but I'll never say no to free food, I guess.

JW Marriott Hanoi

  • Pro: Covered by Free Nights, Good reviews, probably will get upgraded, Free breakfast
  • Cons: Far from City Center, probably not as easy to explore

Solaria Hotel Hanoi

  • Pro: Great Location, Good reviews, Free breakfast, Good Size (30m),
  • Cons: (?) $850 USD ($$$)

HOTEL du LAC Hanoi

  • Pro: Great Location, Reddit seems to love this hotel from what I can see, Cheaper $$(650), Free Breakfast
  • Cons: Smaller Room, Room doesn't have a nice window i don't think

Airbnb

  • Pro: ($) Probably $300-500. More "Local" experience, Larger than. most of the rooms, Location
  • Cons: Risky in terms of quality/expectations. Safety(?) for my things?

Based on above, what would you pick? Anything you'd recommend? Thanks!
