Xperience Update ~ Six supporter cover sets, and a thank-you to the people backing this

Over 17,000 sign-ups.

Two months ago this was a weekend project I built because nothing out there arranged my library the way I wanted it. I did not expect anyone else to care.

You did, loudly, and it changed what this thing is. Nearly every headline feature since the last update started as a comment or a bug report in this sub. Fusion support, merged rows, scrobbling, the catalog editor: none of that was on my list until one of you asked for it. This has stopped being my project and started being ours, and that is a strange and very good feeling.

Some of you went further than feedback and actually put money into it. That goes straight into a hosting bill that is real and growing, and more than that, it landed on a few nights where I did not much feel like opening the editor and then did anyway. I wanted to build those people something better than a line in a changelog.

So: six cover sets that only supporters can apply.

  • Facade - a tilted wall of posters receding into the dark, lit like a cinema frontage at night
  • Lightbox - an even, backlit grid where every poster gets the same light
  • Limelight - one title pulled all the way forward, the rest falling away into warm bokeh
  • Atrium - posters standing on a polished floor, reflections and all
  • Key Art - the real studio key art, ungraded, wordmark on a frosted scrim
  • Key Art Portrait - the poster cut of the same thing, from textless 2:3 art

The first four rebuild themselves every night from whatever your collections are actually showing. That is the part a screenshot cannot show you. Your Marvel folder looks like your Marvel folder, and next month, when what you are watching has moved on, it will have moved with you.

The two Key Art sets go the other way, and they might be my favourite thing in the app right now: no montage, no filter, just the art the studio actually made for the thing. Sourced textless so nothing is fighting the wordmark, across 160 folders spanning film and TV franchises, anime, studios, networks and streaming services, in both orientations, every one checked by hand.

There is also a supporter badge on your account, and a proper moment the first time it lands.

More supporter perks are coming. I would rather ship them than announce them, so that is all I will say.

How to get it

If the email on your Ko-fi donation matches the email you sign in with, it is automatic. The badge and the sets are already there.

If you donated under a different address, which happens a lot with PayPal, open any supporter cover set and the app offers two ways in: re-check your status, or verify the donation email. Verifying sends a six-digit code to that address and links it permanently.

And if you donated a while back, send me a DM and I will sort you out. I only started properly logging donations part way through, so my records do not go back to the beginning. Some of you who gave recently already have access, so have a look first. But if you supported this at any point and you are not seeing the badge, that is a gap in my bookkeeping, not a judgement on you. One message and it is done, no receipts required.

Worth saying plainly: a donation email links to exactly one Xperience account. That is enforced in code, not just intended. It cannot be passed around, which means if you backed this, the badge on your account is yours specifically and nobody else is wearing it.

Also shipped since the last update

  • Recently Watched collections now refresh themselves in the background, plus new "Based on Recently Watched" shelves with director and writer lanes
  • AI search lands results on the first paint instead of after a beat
  • Posters+ added as a poster provider, plus a resolver serving backgrounds, title logos and episode stills
  • Series TMDB has never heard of get rescued through TheTVDB, and you can pick your anime season source
  • Merged rows gained sort, shuffle and delegated filters
  • New folders: Malayalam, Kannada, Arabic, a Martial Arts theme, and CBC Gem
  • Catalogs got substantially faster to serve, which is where most of the last two weeks went

The ask

I am not going to make a big pitch. You know whether this has earned a place in your setup.

If it has, the Ko-fi link is below and it makes a real difference at this size. If it has not yet, tell me what is missing and I will look at it this week. Both of those move this forward.

Xperience Update ~ Fusion, merged catalogs, scrobbling & more

Grateful for 13.8k users, with an average of 6,450 active every day!

I’ve been busy working through ALL of your feedback, and I’m honestly overwhelmed by the positive response. Xperience started just over a month ago, and seeing it compared so favorably with tools that have been around much longer means a lot.

I’ve let your feedback do the talking, and you guys have definitely made yourselves heard. This project is only getting started and will keep getting better.

The big updates first:

  • Full Fusion support — Install Xperience using your manifest URL, then import your complete home layout into Fusion as widgets. Home rows and collections preserve their order, names, artwork, tile shapes and live catalog sources. Import by URL, paste JSON or download a backup.
  • Import catalogs from other add-ons — Imported catalogs are now hosted through Xperience, so they work in Nuvio or Stremio without requiring every source add-on to be installed separately.
  • Merged catalog rows — Combine up to eight native, custom or imported catalogs into one row. Choose interleaved or sequential ordering, with automatic duplicate removal and support for mixed movie-and-series rows.
  • Automatic scrobbling — Opt into playback tracking for Trakt, Simkl, AniList and MyAnimeList. Scrobbling can be controlled per profile, with account-level defaults.
  • Safer Nuvio collection pushes — Merge is now the default. Xperience updates its own collections while preserving manually created collections and collections from other add-ons. Full replacement is still available.

Also landed:

  • MyAnimeList integration, including account linking and anime progress updates
  • Simkl anime catalogs and Trakt watch-history rows
  • Catalog editor overhaul with a live preview and controls for quality, ratings, vote counts, runtime, countries, languages, genres, years, sorting and visibility
  • Custom Discover types — Create your own categories alongside Movies and Series
  • Public list discovery — Search Trakt and MDBList lists without leaving Xperience
  • Multi-manifest imports with source labels, management and re-syncing
  • Dynamic Showcase covers — A fourth dynamic style featuring a tilted poster wall
  • Independent backdrop sets — Mix cover art from one set with hero backdrops from another
  • Hero backdrops and title logos for every collection folder
  • Improved search with typo tolerance, aliases, creator matching and better person/collection results
  • AI improvements — Selectable providers and models, larger recommendation rows, better prompt accuracy and automatic quota fallback
  • Faster, more reliable catalogs through edge caching, stale-while-refresh serving and install-time warming
  • Better metadata — Correct episode dates, exact local airtimes, timezone support, clickable cast filmographies and more reliable anime IDs
  • Better poster handling — XRDB support, native-language title logos, real IMDb ratings in previews and automatic TMDB fallback
  • More content — 17 director folders, reorganized Anime categories, new Themes, more series rows and additional services for India, Canada and Australia
  • UI and accessibility overhaul across desktop, mobile, dialogs, scrolling and loading states
  • Verified supporter claims for Ko-fi donors using secure email verification

App: https://xperience-app.com
Guide: https://xperience-app.com/guide

Feedback and bug reports are always welcome. Thank you for using Xperience and for continuing to shape what it becomes.

Xperience Update ~ Did someone say dynamic collections and catalogs?

The big one first, the feature a lot of you have been asking for: dynamic covers.

Your collections and catalogs can now use artwork built from the titles actually inside them, and it refreshes on its own, no more static tiles going stale. Pick a style in the cover picker:

  • Billboard — one clean cinematic still
  • Poster Wall — a Netflix-style wall of the collection
  • Duotone — a bold black-and-white spotlight

Each set also generates a matching, label-free backdrop for the hero area, so your home actually looks like a streaming app. Look for the new "Dynamic" badge (and filter) in the picker. (Screenshots below.)

Also landed since the last update:

  • For You recommendations — catalogs that learn your taste from what you've watched, plus "Because You Watched [title]" lanes. No AI api keys needed!
  • Ratings on posters — optional IMDb/rating badges baked onto the poster art (EasyRatings/ERDB)
  • Letterboxd lists as catalog sources
  • Shuffle modes per catalog — off / fixed / daily / weekly
  • More content — an Anime section, Marvel & DC expanded into Disney+-style hubs, more per-decade lanes, and real series rows for Horror / Thriller / Rom-Com
  • Better series data — TVDB fills in shows TMDB couldn't (fewer blank episode lists), plus higher-res episode thumbnails
  • New filter — hide CAM-quality (pre-digital-release) movies
  • Per-catalog language override, and Vietnamese added

One month of Xperience, ~6,000 of you, and I read every single comment. Thank you.

One month ago today, Xperience went live.

I built it because I wanted a cleaner, better-looking way to browse and organize catalogs, and honestly I figured a handful of people might find it useful.

A month later, there are around 6,000 of you using it. I still don't quite have words for that.

I've tried to read everything: the praise, the "hey, this is broken," and the "can you please add…" It's shaped nearly every update. A few things people keep bringing up that mean a lot:

  • The posters and artwork (the part I obsessed over first)
  • Pushing changes straight to your account, no reinstalling the addon every time you tweak your setup
  • Collections that actually look clean and organized
  • The catalogs. Seeing Xperience in people's top lists still doesn't feel real

I want to be clear about one thing: this community is spoiled for choice right now. There are great tools out there and genuinely talented people building them. I'm not here to tell anyone to ditch what they love. I just wanted to say thank you to everyone who took a chance on a brand-new addon in its first month.

As for what's next, a lot. A few things I'm heads-down on:

  • Faster, smarter search
  • Personalized recommendations
  • Even more catalogs, collections, and artwork sets

I'm shipping something every few days, and the roadmap keeps growing because of your feedback.

If you're using Xperience, thank you, sincerely. If there's something you wish it did, drop it below. I read everything, and there's a real chance it ends up in the app.

Here's to month two.

Back-to-Back Bangers - Xperience update: AI search, AI-built catalogs, and a fully customizable home layout

Another batch of updates landed on Xperience (the visual catalog builder for Nuvio — curate, style, and sync your streaming home with no JSON required). This is the biggest one yet, so here's the rundown.

Create catalogs with AI

You can now describe a catalog in plain English and Xperience builds it for you. "Mind-bending sci-fi from the last decade", "cozy mysteries for a rainy weekend" — type the prompt, preview the results before adding, and regenerate or tweak the prompt right from the editor if it's not quite right. It even names the catalog for you if you don't. AI catalogs live in their own section and drop straight into your home screen or collection folders.

There's also an "AI for you" row that recommends titles based on your taste, and it now properly skips everything you've already watched on Trakt.

AI search

Search doesn't have to be a title anymore. Ask for what you're in the mood for in natural language and it figures out what you mean. Regular search got smarter too: searching an actor or director now blends their filmography right into the results.

Home Layout

This one's been asked for since day one. You can now arrange your entire home screen exactly how you want it: drag any row anywhere, mix collections and catalogs freely instead of being stuck with fixed groups, and pin rows so your favorites stay locked at the top. The layout syncs across your devices.

Edit any catalog, per catalog

Every row now has its own editor: rename it, filter it by year, change the sorting, or shuffle it. No more one-size-fits-all rows.

Custom lists got a big upgrade

  • Add lists by ID from Trakt, MDBList, or public TMDB lists through a new import modal
  • Sort controls for Trakt, AniList, Simkl, and MDBList list catalogs
  • Connect your TMDB account for personal home rows
  • Importing from a Nuvio setup now converts your existing Trakt/TMDB/MDBList list sources into native, reusable catalogs, and you can name them

Quality-of-life

  • New filter to hide everything you've already watched, everywhere
  • New filter to hide content from specific countries (if K-dramas keep flooding your rows, this is for you)
  • Real IMDb ratings and English fallback for episode data, so episode lists stop showing blanks
  • More metadata languages with a searchable language picker
  • Hundreds of new cover art options: network logo sets in 17 styles, decades collections, anime backfills, and more

Try it

New: a complete Xperience guide (every page and option, in plain English)

A lot of you, especially folks just starting out, asked for a proper walkthrough, or weren't sure how Xperience is actually different from AIOMetadata. So I built one.

There's now a full guide on the site. It's free and needs no login:

https://xperience-app.com/guide

What's inside:

- What Xperience is, and a clear side-by-side with AIOMetadata

- A 5-minute quick start

- The setup wizard explained step by step: every option, what it does, and the gotchas (the TMDB v4 key, poster providers, filters, collections, the install link)

- Dedicated sections for Settings, Avatars, and Badges

- A plain-English glossary and an FAQ / troubleshooting section

It also follows your app language, so it's available in English, Spanish, French, German, Portuguese, Italian, and Greek.

If you've ever wanted to point a friend at Xperience but they found it confusing, this is the link to send them.

Feedback welcome: if anything in the guide is unclear, missing, or wrong, drop a comment and I'll fix it. Same goes for anything you wish it covered.

New here? Start with the guide, then ask anything below and we'll help you get set up.

Xperience now lets you drop any public Trakt or MDBList list straight onto your Nuvio home

Another batch of updates landed on Xperience (the visual catalog builder for Nuvio, curate, style, and sync your streaming home with no JSON required). Starting with the big one.

Bring your own lists (Trakt + MDBList)

You can now paste any public Trakt or MDBList list URL and Xperience turns it into a real catalog. No JSON, no manifest editing.

  • Works as a home row (Step 2) and as a collection folder source (Step 3), grouped under a new "Custom" section
  • Just paste the URL and it figures out whether it's Trakt or MDBList on its own
  • Public Trakt lists need nothing, MDBList lists use your own MDBList key
  • The list name carries through so Nuvio shows it the way you'd expect

This is the one a lot of you have been asking for. If there's a curated list out there you love, it's now one paste away from being a row on your home screen.

Filters

  • Hide content I've already watched. New Step 1 toggle that drops titles you've finished on any connected tracker (Trakt, Simkl, AniList) from the discovery rows. It leaves your own tracker rows and search alone, and if a tracker is down it just leaves the row as-is instead of emptying it.
  • Exclude by country of origin. Hide titles from countries you pick (set KR if you want K-dramas out of the generic rows, for example) across every catalog and search.
  • Step 1 preferences got reorganized into clear sections (display language, content maturity, country of origin, content to hide), and the country picker is sorted alphabetically now.

Content & sources

  • World Cinema got a lot bigger. Added Greek, Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Thai, Filipino, and Cantonese, plus Portuguese, Russian, and Turkish rows, each tuned per language with Latest and series rows.
  • Anime collection got reworked. Trending, Most Popular, and Top Rated now come from AniList so they line up with the MAL community packs, while Latest and Upcoming pull from TMDB so brand-new and unreleased stuff actually shows up. Also added an "Airing Now" row.
  • Greek is now a full app UI language and content language.
  • Cleaned up the browse sources. Popularity rows have vote floors now so a random spike can't push some unrated single-vote title to the top. Added more director rows (Ridley Scott, Cameron, Peter Jackson, del Toro, Coppola, Spike Lee, Greta Gerwig, and others) and new mood rows (Revenge, Magic, Coming of Age, Martial Arts, Vampire, Satire).
  • New Networks collection so you can browse by broadcast/cable network.
  • Also added a Runtime group (Short, Standard, Long, Epic), Kids family franchises (Toy Story, Shrek, etc.), a Trakt "Recommended For You" row, and did some folder cleanup (K-Drama moved out of Anime, among others).

Badges

Reworked badge colors. You can apply a color to all your badges or just one group, the panel got redesigned with a live preview, there's a custom color picker now, and the swatch colors actually match what shows up.

Builder & fixes

  • Step 4 remembers which Nuvio profile you last pushed to and preselects it.
  • Fixed a Nuvio login error that could wrongly kick you out of Xperience.
  • Fixed actor and director rows that wouldn't load for big-name actors with hundreds of credits. They page through properly now.

Cover art

New logomark cover sets for the Networks collection, and backfilled covers for the Decades, Anime, and World Cinema folders.

Xperience update: AniList, anime via Kitsu, personal Trakt & Simkl lists — and a new live uptime page

Pushed a batch of updates to Xperience (the visual catalog builder for Nuvio — curate, style, and sync your streaming home, no JSON required) over the last two days. Here's what's new.

New: a public Status page

You can now check the health of Xperience at any time:

https://xperience-app.com/status

  • Live status of the core platform (website, addon delivery, database/auth, asset CDN, sign-in captcha)
  • 90-day uptime history for each component
  • An incident & scheduled-maintenance feed, so you'll know about planned work ahead of time
  • Status of the third-party providers it relies on (TMDB, Trakt, Simkl, AniList, Kitsu, and more)

If something ever looks off, this is the fastest way to tell whether it's the service or your own setup. It auto-refreshes and works well on mobile.

Also shipped in the last two days

Content & sources

  • Anime overhaul: anime now comes from Kitsu with proper absolute episode numbering, so episodes line up correctly instead of being lumped into one giant season.
  • AniList integration: link your AniList account and pull your lists as rows (PunchPlay and Wetrakr are scaffolded as "coming soon").
  • Your personal Trakt lists as home rows, plus Trakt liked lists and Simkl completed/ratings/currently-watching with sorting.
  • Personal sources are now split into separate Trakt and Simkl sections.

Filters & control

  • Hide adult content toggle (on by default) and per-profile category exclusions (anime, reality, kids, documentaries, and more).
  • Live preview now shows the filters you have active.

Builder UX

  • Collapsible catalog sections with a single expand/collapse-all toggle in Steps 2 & 3.
  • Folder hero in the live preview now shows the title logo + backdrop.
  • Smoother scrolling, badge backgrounds that fill behind transparent logos, and assorted layout fixes.

Cover art

  • New logomark cover sets for film & TV collection folders.

Try it

Feedback and bug reports are always welcome. Thanks for using it!

Xperience update: brand-logo cover sets + Simkl support

Quick follow-up to my last post. Here’s what’s landed since then.

Brand-logo cover-art sets. Carrying on from the cover stuff last time, there’s now a set that drops the actual brand logo onto your studio and streaming-service folders. Around 23 studios are covered so far (A24, Marvel, DC, Pixar, Studio Ghibli, HBO, Lucasfilm, Lionsgate, Universal, Warner Bros, Paramount, Sony, DreamWorks, Illumination…) plus the streaming services. Each one comes in a few treatments (clean glow, duotone, monogram, etc.) in both landscape and portrait, so a whole row of brand folders ends up looking consistent.

Simkl support. If you’re on Simkl instead of (or as well as) Trakt, you can now hook it up. Works account-wide or per profile, and you can have both connected at the same time. Connecting it adds a “My Simkl Plan to Watch” row and pulls your Simkl Completed history into the AI “For You” recommendations.

A few smaller things that also went in:

  • The app’s now available in Italian (on top of English, German, Spanish, French and Portuguese).
  • Added TLC, HGTV and Food Network as folders under Streaming Services.
  • Detail pages are self-sufficient now, full cast (with photos), directors/writers, trailers, age ratings and release dates come straight from Xperience, so you don’t need Cinemeta/AIOMetadata installed to see them.
  • Search and non-TMDB lists (Trakt/Simkl/MDBList, IMDb Top 250, etc.) now show in your profile’s language instead of always defaulting to English.
  • Plus a round of catalog fixes so collection folders reliably resolve to streams.

If you use Simkl, curious how that’s working for you and which studio logos you’d want added next.
