Cancelled ippon to wazari and osaekomi

Yesterday I threw my opponent for wazari (it felt like wazari to me) right into osaekomi and started the hold. But the referee said "Ippon! Sore-Made!".

Almost immediately after we stood up they downgraded ippon to wazari.

I know this happens not too infrequently. Anything a competitor can do in such situations?

How physically intense is your training?

I did some Aikido many years ago in Ukraine and I remember it was relatively intense. There was a warmup with knee walking and ukemi practicing. We did some hip throws on crash pads. We did pinning techniques from knees and from standing, and uke went to the ground. One day a week was a weapon day, and it was decent cardio.

Recently I did a couple of adult Aikido classes here in USA (Aikido Schools of Ueshiba affiliation) and it was super relaxed. No warmup one class and very light warmup for the second. No ukemi practice. We didn't really do full techniques, just very slow and gentle unbalancing.

I train Judo and I feel that for Judo class structure and intensity are pretty similar across different places. Does it vary a lot for Aikido?
