Coworker spread a very private medical issue and now people are joking about it at work

So I need some outside opinions on this because I’m honestly pissed off, embarrassed, and also somehow blaming myself at the same time.

I had a really personal medical situation recently. Long story short, I accidentally had a tampon get stuck inside me and had to go to the doctor to have it removed.

I told a few coworkers I actually trust about what happened, including one male coworker who I apparently very stupidly assumed would keep it to himself.

Well, he told another male coworker.

Then that coworker he told literally stopped me at work and started joking about it. He was saying things like “ohhh I know what happened to you” and then straight up said “you got a tampon stuck inside you” and was basically teasing me about it. It went on for at least a minute.

I was so caught off guard and uncomfortable that I did the absolute worst thing possible for my own sanity afterward and awkwardly laughed but I could feel the horror spreading across my face during the whole encounter.

I was NOT fine with it. Once I actually processed what happened I felt so violated, grossed out, embarrassed, and angry. Like this is something extremely personal involving my body and a medical visit, and now I have no idea who else this guy told or who else knows about it.

What’s making me second guess myself is that I told another coworker about what happened afterward and she basically told me that it was my fault because I chose to tell someone in the first place and that if you tell coworkers personal things, you should expect them to repeat it.

And like… I understand that technically once you tell someone something you can’t completely control where it goes. I definitely regret trusting this guy now.

But I also feel like there’s a massive difference between “maybe I shouldn’t have told him” and “therefore it’s completely acceptable for him to spread an intimate medical story about me and for another coworker to come up to me and joke about it.”

I’m considering going to HR, mostly because I want it documented and I want the discussion about it to stop before it spreads any further.

Am I overreacting here? Would you go to HR over this?

Rest easy Kiwi

Eleven years together felt like a lifetime to me, but for Kiwi, it truly was. I never really looked at it that way before. Those eleven years were his whole life, and he spent them by my side, loving me endlessly.

I made sure that every day of those eleven years, he knew he was just as loved.

I don’t think we can ever fully mirror the kind of love our pets give to us. We love them with every fiber of our being, but their love is different. It is pure. It is unconditional in a way that feels almost impossible to measure.

There is love we have for our pets, and then there's the kind of love that changes the shape of you. Not because the others matter less, but because one special soul finds a place in you that no one else could ever fill. Kiwi was that soul for me.

The love we shared transcends anything either of us could ever fully understand. It’s the kind of love you’re lucky to experience even once.

It’s common for cats who are sick or dying to hide, retreat, or look for a place where they feel safe when they’re vulnerable. It’s instinct. Indoor cats may hide under beds or in closets. Indoor-outdoor cats might go off on their own and they don’t always make it back home.

Kiwi was an indoor-outdoor cat. While I still don’t know what caused his death, I believe that whatever it was, he he knew something was wrong, and his instinct wasn’t to run away. His instinct was to come home.

He used the last of his strength to get back to the place where he felt safest. The place where he could be vulnerable. The place where he knew he was loved.

That place was with me.

That is the profound love I mean when I talk about Kiwi. Not just the love I had for him, but the love he showed me in return.

Rest in peace my sweet Kiwi baby🩶

AIO for being extremely suspicious of my boyfriends explanations?

My(28F) boyfriend(28M) promised support during a difficult weekend, then gave explanations that didn’t add up

This happened in June 2025. It was about to be the first Father’s Day without my dad after he passed, and Father’s Day was that Sunday. On the Friday before Father's Day, I told my boyfriend I was having a hard time and that the next few days were going to be really difficult for me. He told me, “I’m keeping myself this weekend for you because I know it’ll be hard for you.” So he made plans to spend the weekend with me.

At first he said I had him all Saturday and Sunday. He let me know that on Saturday he would be cleaning his fish tanks and after he finished he would head on over. These plans were made just a day before. So Saturday comes along and after he finished the fish tanks at around 4pm he told me he was going to hang out with his friend. I was confused because he never mentioned these plans until that moment and It caught me off guard. He said it like I had known about it.

So I mentioned how he never told me about these plans and I was getting really upset, both hurt and angry. I became suspicious and pressed him about it. I thought he had just decided that day to hangout with his friend and I told him how that was really messed up to do that and also not even telling me. He told me he had made those plans with his friend on Thursday, but that he figured he could see him before or after we hung out. That didn’t make sense to me, because he had said he was supposed to come over right after the tanks and then sleep over and be together into Sunday, so I don’t understand how he was planning to hang out with his friend before or after our plans unless he already knew he was going to change our plans or never actually intended to sleep over that night. I called him out on how he apparently made these plans with his friend the day before making plans with me and somehow forgot about that and how But it doesn't make sense. After talking in circles he said “Look, I don’t know what you want me to tell you. I’m a chronic double booker and I have double booked.” I just said “okay,” and then he said all he wanted to know was whether we were still going to hang out now or later that night.

Eventually the plan became that he would sleep over after hanging out with his friend. But then right before he was supposed to come over, he said his boiler had started leaking and that he was unavailable that night because he had to run home.

Part of why I think he was being deceptive is that his explanation doesn’t hold together. He said he “forgot” he made plans with his friend on Thursday, but he also said he had “figured” he could see his friend before or after seeing me on Saturday. To me, those two things contradict each other. If he had truly forgotten about the plans, then he would not already have been thinking about how to fit them around our plans. The fact that he said he had already figured that out suggests he actually did remember the friend plans and knew from the start that the weekend was not as fully set aside for me as he claimed.

I also think it’s telling that he first said he was “keeping himself” that weekend for me and that I had him all Saturday and Sunday, but the plans kept shrinking and changing after that. First it became only Saturday night and Sunday because of his fish tanks, then Saturday got taken up by plans with his friend, then the plan became that he would come over later, and then he canceled completely. That pattern is why it feels deceptive to me. It wasn’t just one scheduling issue — it was that he spoke as if I was the priority that weekend while his actions showed that I clearly.

Am I overreacting for becoming suspicious and upset with my boyfriend? Am I connecting dots that aren't really there?

Also this isn't something I currently bring up. I'm not suspicious of cheating but of timeline of planning.

TL;DR: Before my first Father’s Day without my dad, my boyfriend told me he was “keeping himself” that weekend for me and that I had him all Saturday and Sunday. Then he kept changing the plan, added in friend plans he claimed he had “forgotten” about even though he also said he had already figured out how to fit them around me, got frustrated when I was confused, and canceled that night anyway. The reason it still bothers me is that it feels less like accidental double booking and more like he was saying I was the priority while already knowing I really wasn’t.
