Got this nice player ii Strat locally with hard shell case and wah for $400, too good to pass up! I’m going to turn it into an HSS. After I sell the case and wah that I don’t need I’ll probably be into it for $200.
Any humbucker recommendations to pair well with the player ii single coils (assuming they stay). I’m thinking a 59’.
I’ve had this thing for going on 10 years and it was always just not quite right. It’s an amazing player, sustain for days, rock solid 26 year old guitar.
I’ve never quite been happy with the stock McCarty pickups. They’re super thick and creamy clean, but pretty dark borderline mud overdrive. Especially the neck. I didn’t want to spend $$$ on PRS pickups so instead of 57/08s I opted for some pearly gates as they’re a common swap on these older McCarties. Couldn’t be happier, clear, articulate, bite, much more raw but still very much a McCarty.
Anyways, thought I’d share in case anybody else is in the same boat.
