Runnymede improvements
Runnymede only goes about a block north of St. Clair, but the bike lane was in pretty rough shape. That is now being remedied. Looking forward to seeing, and riding, the finished product! 😀

Just a reminder, as we head out to cycle about on this glorious but hot Canada Day: keeping up fluid intake during extreme heat is hugely important. Our thirst feedback loop doesn't work very efficiently during physical activity in high heat. By the time we feel thirsty, we are already dehydrated. Drink before you go out, drink constantly while riding.
I agree with some of this, disagree with other parts.
Taken at 8:30pm Saturday. There are still lots of bikes out there; we'll hit 2K for sure.
"Ontario's police watchdog says they are now investigating a cyclist being tackled to the ground by a group of Toronto police officers after his lawyer told the Star he suffered a concussion."
Spotted a Toyota corolla driving in a bike lane and passed the streetcar open door
A clickbaity title - however, I think it's fair to say the transportation system writ large is going to be stretched to its limits during FIFA game days.
A new employee at my workplace is commuting daily by bicycle. So now there are two of us! 😀 We decided to usurp a corner of the warehouse for indoor parking with signs and everything. When the owner saw it, he thought it was great, and promised to set up a proper secure facility for us. Chalk up a small victory! 🚲
One guesses that May 1st was the first day of Limes being back on the roads and paths in Mississauga. I haven't seen trace of them all winter, and all of a sudden, Monday and today I'm seeing quite a few of them, left by the roadsides, as I commute to and from work. I love the availability of micro-mobility, but I'm not such a big fan of dockless, as they can be left in some rather inconvenient places after use (like even the middle of paths!). Still, ride on and stay safe, Limers! 😀
I haven't been along Winona for several months, and I was absolutely thrilled to see that it's been completely resurfaced between Eglinton and Vaughan Road. It's so comfortable and smooth now, the difference is amazing! As I'm cruising down, another cyclist was riding north, and as we passed we smiled and yelled "Beautiful!" at each other. It was "one of those moments" that only cyclists will get. 😀 BTW, Daniel Lanois had an album out in the early 90s called For the Beauty of Wynona, and every time I ride along Winona I am reminded. Hence, the inspiration of the post title. 😉
I've noticed that there are more pedestrian incursions into the Bloor Lanes by High Park this weekend. I don't know if that's because lots of people are coming in from the 'burbs who might not be used to bike lanes, but I've had several people step in front of me, or plop their strollers in the middle of the lane to load kids from their car. I'm going slowly and being extra vigilant, but still slamming brakes on to avoid collisions. I (gently) explained to one guy that a bike lane is a roadway, and you need to look before stepping into it, just like a "regular street". He seemed understanding, receptive, and apologetic, but someone's going to get hurt, and somehow us "miscreant cyclists" will be blamed. Please be extra careful passing High Park
